I've just watched the group dances section on disk two. They show the men's rueda, the women's swing and the Saturday Night Fever choreographed by Arlene.

- I think that sometimes the car crashes as much a party of the show as the good stuff you can see this on the tour where Chris and Julian provided as much entertainment as the good dancers.

I wandered into the mattew Cutler appreciation thread earlier, and on there tangoqueen was giving an " a to z" review of the first part of the DVD this morning, which was quite entertaining
I ordered DVD in the hope that I could clear some of the SCD shows on my BT vision, but I won't be running for the erase button quite yet.
I 've come to the conclusion that the BBC really does not understand what the fans like about the show. We have our favourites and we want to watch them dance. The WHOLE dance not just a brief snippet with some woman drooning over it, plus one of the judges comments! Only a couple of pro's and group dances, some clips of the judges being rude, and Brucie dancing with Anton. the only bit that is any good is the behind the scenes at the final bit.

For the boys' group dance it was the merengue not the rueda even though I wanted to see that as well. But personally for me I get to watch Austin over and over again, so I am happy.

You see a bit of behind the scenes after he danced the Tango, and then the only other behind the scenes stuff Austin in is in the behind the scenes of the final. And that's all.

I'm inclined to agree with everything you've said. I was disappointed. It was most definitley not any consolation for losing SCD videos on youtube.

I bought this DVD to see Rachel but I instead all I got was a few snippets of random dances, they didn't show many pro dances and the woman that was giving commentary had the most annoying voice.

Has been interesting reading all your comments. I was thinking about getting this DVD (would much prefer series 5 with Gethin - still have some of the shows with him and Camilla on Sky+). But after seeing the comments on here I think I will wait and see if Play/Amazon drop the price eventually as it seems a bit expensive for what seems to be on it. I wouldn't particularly want to see bits from all dances - 1 was more focussed on Austin, Tom etc - but then I was biased!
What on earth is the point of only having the final and semi final dances.
Presumably this means you miss out on the full performances of
Tom's quickstep
Rachel's tango
Austin's jive
Jodie's waltz
Cherie's rumba
Tom's foxtrot where he didn't stumble
etc
Think of all the other memorable (albeit not always in a good way) dances that would be missed if you applied the same approach to previous series? Clearly not put together by an SCD fan. All these years waiting for something to come out and *this* is what they think is a good idea? I'm glad I haven't bought it yet.

Exactly, and I don't get to see Austin's Paso in full either which is really annoying as well.
