What's all this Coldplay love about? Viva La Vida is a decent enough album but its not a patch on "In Rainbows."

I'd personally feel a bit let down if Radiohead won any Brits. It already is a bit of an insult that they are nominated amongst the hoards of sh**e which, at the moment is dominating the british "music" scene.

In Rainbows should win best album. Because nothing comes close. Nothing at all. But it won't.....we don't want to upset Heat magazine

The Brit Awards, like most award ceremonies, are just an excuse for a party. There's no real artistic merit taken into account. Popularity or hype is usually awarded.

I'm a bit conflicted. I quite like Coldplay and don't begrudge them anything. But 'In Rainbows' towers over VLV.

I would love for thousands of new people to go out and listen to In Rainbows because the Brits told them to, and for Radiohead to get the sales - but at the same time there's a perverse delight that we have Radiohead......actual Radiohead, and they don't even get a look in at our own national awards. Which pretty much tells you all you need to know.

I find it amusing that they were nominated at all. It's as though the Brits think 'OK we've got Girls Aloud and Take That, now we need to get some credibility back' but it just makes them look ridiculous! Elbow's 'Seldom Seen Kid' is my pick for the best album, even though I love In Rainbows.

Isn't it funny how, now that Cheryl Cole is Simon Cowell's bitch, suddenly Girls Aloud have the credibility to be nominated and perform at the Brits??

I agree, anyway I doubt they'd even turn up to collect the award if they won one.

I heard In Rainbows for the first time yesterday and instantly thought it was amazing

It was released in 2007 as a digital download. But because the Brits is so far behind with the times they made it ineligible because the CD wasn't released before the deadline or whatever.

They're not behind the times, it's probably just in the rules!

In Rainbows is the best album of the last several years.

Unfortunately though, the Brit awards in particular are about rewarding commerical success, and are the voice of the record industry, and the record industry isn't friends with Radiohead at the moment!

This isn't their first BRIT nomination. The were nominated for one in 2005 for 'Best Pop Act' and one in 2008 for 'Best British Group'. I don't think Cheryl was Mr Cowell's bitch back then.

I'm a bit conflicted. I quite like Coldplay and don't begrudge them anything. But 'In Rainbows' towers over VLV.

One thing that bugs me the most about some Radiohead fans is they seem to think Radiohead are some mega-unknown band that no one has heard. I'm in no way calling you one of these fans, but I have seen it on various forums I lurk and it annoys the poop out of me.

On last.fm alone they have almost 2 million listeners, putting them one place behind Coldplay for the most listened to artist on last.fm. /mini-rant

To be fair the BRITS are rather shit, meaningless and dull.

Spoiler

I love it when Radiohead win an award or get recognition for something because it usually means we get their fans making comments like "Radiohead rules, everything else is in a sea of mediocrity".

Thom Yorke doesn't care about awards, he thinks he's the best anyway.
