I've ordered an additional BT line - Which is to be installed in a residential situation.

Just wondering if anyone knows how BT usually do this - Will they replace the current master socket and swap it over to a double or will they install a completely separate master socket?

Ahh.. Hmm - That's going to look a right mess!

Current socket is not an NTE 5, it's the older style. If he comes along and connects up an NTE 5 right next to it it'll look a bit silly.

I believe they will update your existing socket to a NTE5.

Ask the engineer.

Yep - Due to come next week now.

I don't want to make the guy do lots of work - But i'd not be happy with one or two NTE5 sockets where the current one is located - It's by the window and would look silly having massive sockets there.

Ideally i'd like the sockets to be put in the cupboard... Not sure exactly how he'll do it and how much I can ask him to do.

When I had a second line installed (2003), the engineer offered a double socket. I declined because I wanted the second line in a different place.

I take it VoIP wasn't an alternative? Costs start from £0.00 per month with local incoming number at no charge.

I know all about VoIP - Spend all day selling it and all day using it. Just need two BT lines for two separate ADSL services.
