Kate Lawler and her new home take up a full six pages in a feature in the latest edition of 'OK' magazine.

There are lots of photos of Kate faking that happy, happy, happy grin of hers etc..

Here are a few of the main points .....

- Kate is proud to have made it onto the property ladder. But she misses her old flatmate.

- Kate is pleased that she has managed to fulfil her dream & be a TV presenter.

- She does not use an autocue.

- Kate denies a romance with Ray.

- Kate doesn't see Woodgate each week as their work keeps them apart.

- Kate admits that she sometimes makes mistakes on RI:SE because 'I'm blonds'.

- Kate believes 'in destiny' ... she was meant to win Big Brother 3. (Kate doesn't say whom it was that 'meant' her to win BB3. I assume that she thinks it was God Almighty ! ...lol.)

- Of the future Kate states that there are 'Things in the pipeline and I'm having meetings.Nothing's definite....'

- Kate is pleased to now have her weekends to herself since her Capital Radio show was axed. But she looks forward to covering for peoples holidays.

- Kate has a new dog ... CHARLIE !!!

For a new member, you seem to be awfully familiar with Eejay.

... Yes, but did you guess that it was God that did it?

I finally got round to reading the interview. I don't disagree with anything Eejay reported as being there, but I think a few additions are appropriate.

Although she likes having her weekends back, she really misses being on the radio.

She will be gutted when RI:SE finishes. She thinks the whole team have worked hard and changed a pretty awful programme into a reasonably decent one. I think that's a fair comment.

She also mentions a few names (I can only remember Mel C) who have said they really like RI:SE.

The point of " the meant to win" BB quote was lost in the selective editing - the paragraph goes on to say that she accepts fate whether it means success or going back to her old career. An eminently sensible attitude given the nature of careers and a 50% probability that the universe is all a computer programme anyway.
The radio piece was interesting - arguably the scope for radio presenting is better given the lack of mainstream TV shows which don't already have an established/aged presenter. That might change if C4 or Sky actually programmed some new shows to do what RISE currently does for the industry but the news- lord help us - that the BBC is bringing Bruce Forsyth back suggests the problem. . The piece also implicitly recognises that Kate is a really excellent Radio DJ and looks a potential Tarrant of her generation to me - hopefuly someone will act on that realisation.

The article does mention Kate will be on capital for some christmas specials - no one can say she isn't working her way up and paying her dues - Christmas Day last year - same again this?

Well said TNB, I picked up on the fate thing as well but then forgot it. I have previous experience of Eejay's selectivity, but, as it has turned out, I think you have done a better job on this than I would have done.

I agree with you about the radio, although I'm not sure about the Tarrant reference. I'm going to paraphrase rwo of my earlier posts.

The first is from early this year. For me Kate 'came of age' with her Christmas Day opening message. It wasn't going to rival the Queen's but it was funnier imo. At 2pm (or whenever it was) "Hello, I'm KL and I'm here for the next 2 hours. Don't even go to the toilet <pause with spot-on timing> unless you've got a radio in there."
It's not to everyone's taste and I was told later it was taken from the Kenny Everett jokebook, but it doesn't have to be original to be funny. I hope she is on during Christmas Day again. As you've said TNB, she works for her money. Like her or not folks, the same applies to tv.

The second is recent. It's a longshot, but Kate for Radio 1, taking over the Moyles afternoon slot instead of Sara Cox, or possibly following her at the end of her contract. She's good enough on the radio to do it imo.

I thought only the BB producers were guilty of that crime I wouldn't worry you can obviously get away with it.

Kate winning Big Brother was not down to the hand of God, she won it fair and square as a result of the suffering, pain, joy, laughter, sheer entertainment she brought to our screens over the course of 9 weeks in 2002.

She's the only BB housemate that I've seen people say they are sorry they voted for and that they now dislike intensely (not everyone obviously but a substantial number). Its because her personality outside the house seems so different from the way she presented herself while inside.

And her entertainment value was wholly down to her looks, such as they were, particularly her bum. Add 3 stone and none of her admirers would have found her entertaining - and they would have been right, she wasn't.

She's probably the only HM that most of the population have ever heard of, apart from in a vague 'Oh wasn't that the bloke/girl from Big Brother or Pop Something' kind of way

In the scale of things Reality TV is a small world

Kate's career is over..... I am weeping as I write, but it is the truth.

All that Capital Radio 'face saving' special reporter stuff is nonsense, designed to allow Kate to avoid yet another humiliating job loss.

Clearly she applied for the TOTP presenter position and was, tragically, once again shown the door. As for RI:SE, I need say no more as I reach for another box of tissues.

Kate failed because she is a rubbish presenter ... end of. (Sorry Kate .... my dear ... that's the truth. You will thank me for this one day.)

Kate's famous thug boyfriend will no doubt ensure that her big feet continue to appear in the tabloid press every now and then. But other than that, showbiz Kate has been sent packing back in the direction of that IT sales desk from which she came.

NO, I really do not think so .... she's forgotten.

BB is remembered now for...

- Jade Goody whose star continues to shine so brightly.

- Alex Sibley for weegate, Domestos,'that's disgusting' and for being so gorgeous. All now classic TV moments. All front page news at the time.

- Sandy for escaping over the wall. Another classic TV moment. More front page news.

- Nasty Nick for everything.

- Helen for capturing the nations hearts.

- Brian for being hilarious & for continuing to enjoy success.

- Jon Tickle for being Jon Tickle.

Lawler is remembered for nothing ... ok, ok, ok ... apart from the one-legged dance and she can only take half the credit for that.

There there, Eejay

I'm sure you'll get over it, given time

As for your suggestion that Kate fans reach for a box of tissues when RI:SE comes on...........................

HeyBaby, let's get this right, it's 4 weeks and 4 days until the scheduled end of RI:SE i.e 24 programmes.

HeyBaby and Darling, she will be back, but you won't have to watch any more than you do now. I'm wondering how much that is.

Eejay,

You have presented a list of hms that you like, those that you wish currently had the best profile in the sense of recognition by the public.

They don't imo. The two that are streets ahead of the rest now, like them or not, are Jade and Kate. For what it's worth they are the only two non-BB4 on Celebdaq.

The people following are possibly Brian, Alex and maybe Nasty Nick. However, it's also possible that Jon and maybe Cameron (certainly in Scotland) are ahead of them.

I was wondering when you would turn up. ... My point is that, once RI:SE is over, Kate will quickly be forgotten.

What will she be remembered for? Winning BB3? Well Craig's been forgotten for winning BB1, Kate, I'm afraid, will take the same road.

Even if your recognition point was true, RG, you would also have to take account of what they're known for. Kate, for instance, is known as something of a slapper for forcing fairly sleazy revelations about her love life on us; as a bit of a fake for dumping Spencer at the first opportunity after pretending to be besotted with him on BB; and for being an exceptionally useless presenter on RI:SE.

Would any sensible person seriously want to be known for any of those things.

Eejay,

I wouldn't want to disappoint you. I'd have been back quicker but my pc got sick editing a post.

You may be right about Kate. I don't think you are. Now there's a surprise.

Darling,

I understand your point of view. There are events/articles that you can quote to support your points, some of which are unsubstantiated newspaper stories.

I hope you will in turn accept that a lot of it is a question of interpretation. There have been one or two things that I haven't liked too much, but in total they are insignificant imo. I don't wish to be antagonistic in any way, but I feel your views are a bit Whitehouse Brigade. I know you'll disagree.

Kate will be forgotten by the Majority off us because after RI:SE finnishe's shes not going to be in the public eye any longer. Whereas Brian for instance is still presenting and is still in the public eye so we will remember him, untill he stops presenting. It's as simple as that. Thought up here in Scotland, we never allowed to forget Cameron as he is the first Scot. to win BB.

Its all a Vicous circle.
