Just purchased a brand new Canon A560 camera, which I cannot fault other than the fact when I view the pictures through the LCD screen they often have rotated 90 degrees.

Why I don't know, as I do not understand how they suddenly revert back to the 'as taken' position.

I have a feeling it is not a camera fault, as I believe my mobile also does this sometimes.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Barry

Hi. Yes, thats what I thought, and this is what happens immediately after have taken the pix. It's only later that the pix tend to have turned 90 degrees.

Like everything these days handbooks never have contact numbers for customer assistance.

not sure i understand.
there is no sensor in the camera for orientation. so if you tilt the thing sideways most cameras will not know.

The Canon A560 along with a lot of other digital cameras do have sensors giving 'camera orientation detection' which is then stored in the exif part of the resulting jpeg image, so the camera and some software can tell whether the image was taken in portrait or landscape orientation. This is normally enabled, but most Canon cameras give you the option to disable it, if you wish.
