I didn't even know this Kash ( never heard of him before ) was in the running, I hadn't even considered a bloke might be taking over either. Were the other three actually in the running I wonder or just like red herrings? Maybe kash had the job all along!

I do think its sensible to give the job to a bloke. Most of the people who watch it are likely to be VERY young girls and if they fancy the presenter it might increase viewing figures I guess.

Presumably the suspense (yeah right! ) while we waited for the lucky person to be announced was intended to get a bit of interest going. I doubt it worked mind! :sleep:

Virtual unknown to host new-look Top of the Pops

A virtually unknown TV presenter is to host the relaunched Top Of The Pops later this month.

Tim Kash, 22, presents MTV's daily news bulletins and works on the station's live entertainment show TRL.

He will front BBC1's long-running music show from November 28, when it launches as a live programme under the name All New Top Of The Pops.

BBC bosses are giving it a new look, logo and theme music to pep up interest in the Friday night show.

Kash will carry on with his MTV work and will host a half-hour weekly show for the music channel giving a behind the scenes look at TOTP.

He said: "Like most of us, I grew up watching the show, but more importantly it's an institution, having broken so many bands over the years.

"It's a fantastic opportunity to be involved in re-launching the programme and breathing new life into one of the greatest music shows in television history. I'm honoured to be part of it."

Kash has previously worked on small satellite shows and local radio.

Andi Peters, executive producer of All New Top of the Pops, said: "Tim's confident and charismatic presenting style made him an obvious choice to present All New Top of the Pops.

"He's very talented, and does an outstanding job on MTV so Tim really will be a great new face for the show as it launches live with its all new look."

I hear she's turned down every other breakfast show, watchdog, Have I Got News for You, Eastender, Corrie, every Panto going, the shopping channel, several blockbusting Hollywood Hollywood movies, a job in Blockbusters, every other Sky Sports Channel and her old IT "freelance" job.......What can she have lined up....Is Prince Charles married?

Not so very different from her current job, then. It seems to consist almost entirely of 'Hello, my name's Kate' and 'See you in two'.

Not to mention - 'Hi - welcome back to RI:SE' - followed by 'my name's Kate' as you said - the three standard phrases with little contribution in between.

Even more bizarre. Why has he ended up with someone from MTV who no one had heard of? Never seen TRL but it gets panned all the time on the music forums around here - usually along the lines of opinionated presenters drowning out guests. Margherita was a big name, Dermot was a bigger name, Kate has actully done a bigger TV show and national radio. Then there are all the present presenters and Radio 1 crew. Everyone has a bigger following than this guy. Difficult to see it as a case of going for experience or popularity when you turn down people like Fearn at the start of the process and never even asked Cat Dealey. Is there any reason why no one wanted the job? Relaunch, single presenter is a big career risk?

Maybe the one that looks a bit like the one (non pc) that gets to hang out with yoda is a foxx.

It was a great night though-I have absolutely no idea what the press are going on about. Two hours was tremendous TV.
A great relaunch and all the presenters did really well.
Onwards and upwards! To infinity and beyond!

I especially liked the eminen inspired Blazin Amazin.
