I use media player to rip my CD’s to copy to my MP3 player, but a few CD’s I have have the music continuous but different tracks every now and then, but when I rip the tracks there is a small gap when the track ends and the next track starts – does anyone know how I can stop this happening so when I play the tracks one after the other I don’t get a pause while the track changes?

Cheers in advance !

More than likely your MP3 player doesn't support gapless playback ..... many don't. What kind is it?

If thats the case, the only way round it is to rip the album as one single long track.

I've actually got two - ones a Creative one, the other is a cheap Play.com one.

Dunno about the Play one but I believe most Creative ones don't support gapless ..... although, strangely enough, I have an old creative Muvo2 4gb player I still use ..... and it does! But I think it's in the minority as Creative players go .....

So it looks like the issue lies with the player and not mediaplayer...

More than likely.

The other possibility is that there is a couple of seconds silence at the end of the track but if it's not like that on the original CD - and from what you've said it doesn't sound like it - then it's almost certainly down the players not being gapless.

If they play back seamlessly on the PC (through a playlist in WinAmp/WMP/iTunes or whatever) then it's the player(s).

Mine doesn't. But then it did cost about £10.

mp3 doesn't really support gapless playback for one thing
player support is basically a hack
