Lock Up - Log
PaulB67
23-01-2009
I am starting this thread for people to log any lock ups on the humax foxsat hdr, to find out how common or uncommon these lock ups are. Several people have reported lock ups and others have had no problems at all so just how common is it.

This thread is not for people to moan about the box or to defend it or to post other problems, its just to see how many lock ups are occurring out there.

By lock up I mean when all the controls on the remote and on the box itself stop working and the only option is to power the box off using the switch at the back or at the mains.

So if you get a lock up please post a reply on here with details of what happened.

Ok, to start the ball rolling.

Lock up occurred on Jan 22nd

Scenario: Recording 2 programmes at once (one was bbc hd) and using the remote to move up and down the media list.

My box suffered from freezing up which seemed to occur when recordings started. I lived with that for a few weeks but today it finally packed up. The receiver booted after switching off and the Humax logo was displayed momentarily, then nothing at all. I could change channels according to the display but still nothing on the screen. I checked the HDMI cable, my amp and even re-connected to old SKY box to confirm there was a signal. Still nothing, so I had to return it to Comet for a refund. I’ll wait until the product has matured and a few more HD channels are available before buying again. Until then, its BT Vision.

Last night 8pm.
Set to record Location on CH4, had reserved to watch BBC2. PVR was showing BBC1, box came on showing do you want to watch BBC2.
I did nothing, after a bit, the screen went black, sound continued from BBC1, PVR unresponsive.
Switched off at the back of the machine, when it rebooted, it had not recorded CH4.
