What does this actually mean? I was on the CEX website and looking at the PS3s, 360s etc and they have boxed, unboxed and discounted. I cant find anywhere what discounted means so if anyone knows please enlighten me.

Discounted mean a model that is no longer available to buy, like the 60GB PS3's, they sell them as Discounted so they can charge more.

think it means the condition of the machine is not 100%

WIth mobiles the have A, B or C grade

A = Immaculate/New
B= Good
C = Poor

WOuld assume that the discounted machines are either scratched etc or missing a lead or control pad

Think you're confusing discounted with discontinued there

Discounted usually means offered at a lower than previous price or at a lower price than available elsewhere, no idea what it means in the context of CEX's site though.

discounted is usually if its not in good condition, might be theres a scratch or missing somethign but is still guaranteed to work. you do get a 12 month warranty with cex.

Basically, it's CEX's little way of giving you less money under almost any circumstance. It's exactly like someone mentioned above RE: the phone grades. If you have a console, they'll probably give you 10-15 less for it if there's no box, for instance. As someone mentioned, a lead missing or something like that will also class it as discounted. You'll get the full amount they offer if everything is present and correct- but as soon as something is out of place, they'll probably only offer you the discounted price. Bit of a cheek really, when they've normally got tons of spare bits behind the counter- but that's how CEX is so successful!!!

Oh you mean discontinued, not discounted.

Got confused there!

the discounted items are the items they stupidly took in that look like the previous owner has played football with it. It usually means an item which doesn't have all the bits/box with it, or has any form of cosmetic damage.

I was also told that the stores now do not sell the unboxed version of the consoles. They are now grouped as boxed, meaning it is in near perfect condition with box and all other bits, and discounted, which is everything else.
