IPOD Universal Dock - Advice about using it through computer
I've just bought one of those Universal Dock things that you put your IPOD into and plugged it into my computer thinking that I would be able to hear the music through it.
It doesn't seem to work though. Does anyone know if there's anything else I should do? Do I need a cable or something? |

I plug my dock into the aux inputs of a Hi-fi to hear amplified sound from the iPod using an approved iPod 3.5 mm to 2x phono cable (note they are wired slightly differently to standard phono cables)
Usually you already have the same music files stored on the PC (which you load onto the iPod) and so there is no point in trying to play the iPod back through the PC. Though you could use a 3.5mm jack to 3.5mm jack cable if you have a sound in socket on the sound card. |

Thanks. It looks like it would be easier to get these cables you mention and plug it into my stereo then.
It was just meantime till I got a cable. I guess you can get them from Asda and that?? Thanks a lot. Will get one from somewhere. I've been mucking around with it for ages, what a plonker I am. |

Check the back of your hi-fi first to see what type of Aux connections you have.
Not sure what Asda stock but PC World, John Lewis or The Apple shop should have or buy off the internet to save a few quid. |
