Because someone is slagging off Ruthie you don't like it. Neither do people like it when she slags people off twice and interrups a judges comments and rebukes him for his scoring this would be an OUTRAGE in a normal competition. She was out of order, and if she wasn't why did someone start this thread?”

Perhaps they started this thread because they do not like Ruthie?

AND if she is only a singer, so is RUTHIE!!! What makes her so qualified to judge someones skating!

Is Jason a skater? They are there because they were asked to judge for the show. Are you qualified to judge anyone's skating?

No and neither are you!
But I am qualified to judge on a person's manners, or as in this case, lack of them.

Isn't it more a case of judging her manners? She interrupted and undermined another judge publicly twice. Depending on your view, she may have a point, but the way she handled the situation was out of order.

Agree completely. Don't know who she thinks she is being so patronising, especially to someone who can actually ice skate.

I have read your posts in both this and the other Ruthie thread and you are continually contradicitng youself.

Its not about disliking Ruthie. Its about her rudeness and her unprofessional manner.

She also seemed to be suggesting that by giving a higher mark early in the performances that he left no "room for improvement" if later skaters were better.
Firstly, this effectively means you are prejudiced against the earlier skaters.
Secondly, her approach of marking low gives exactly the same problem anyway...what happens if a later skater is worse?

She comes across as believing that she is always right...in reality I would listen more to Jason than I would Ruthie.

I think she is vile and Nicky should have told her to shut the hell up.

I don't understand what she is doing in that job.

Maybe, but Nicky should not over-mark, it is ridiculous to give Colleen a 4.5, he should know better. How do you think the other skaters feel, most skated better than Colleen and some only got 2.5. I don't dislike Colleen, in fact, I quite like her, but she was seriously overmarked by Nicky who should know better.

I agreed with Ruthie - yes Jason pulls some scores down, but at least his scoring is consistent between all of the couples.

Nicky's scoring was all over the show tonight... however I get the feeling he would've given Ray a 5.5 but wasn't allowed to because of Robin?

I think her behaviour tonight was dreadful and I hope she is taken to task for it by someone- she has no right to question the marks of the other judges even if she doesn't agree with them.

To then score the truly awful Zoe a 4 just made a mockery of her ideals and opened up the whole question of whether she will mark the first however many couples lower in order to save her high marks for the end??

Agreed about the over-marking, but did you not see anything wrong in Ruthie's attitude???

Later on when they had the second spat did you notice that Nicky had in fact wanted to give a HIGHER score to Ray Quinn. But was thwarted because of a "directive" from the ead of judges. Which I guess is TV speak for saying that if he got a 6 at this stage in the proceedings there is very little room for him to go higher. On a technical level he is awesome but I suspect something behind the scenes. I hope behind the scenes he gives her (Ruthie) what for!

But Nicky is being unprofessional with his overscoring surely. I am just giving my opinion. I have watched ice-skating for over 40 years, it just makes it a joke to overmark by so much.

Oh for heaven's sake! Why can you not listen to what we are trying to say?

Its not about the marking of Colleen its about Ruthie and her bad attitude and arrogance.

Personally I thought 4.5 a generous mark for Colleen, but all the judges have their anomalies/favourites/acts of madness, and it isn't good form for other judges to bang on about it in front of the camera.
Personally, as I already mentioned, I think Ruthie was crazily over-generous towards a clod-hopping performance from Zoe - but that's her prerogative. At least Nicky had the decency to keep his mouth shut about it.

To be honest, it didn't bother me, I was more disappointed in Nicky.

You don't get it all do you!
They can mark how the hell they like! Why are you not having a pop at Jason who marks EVERYONE low? your comments are ridiculous. Full of holes and flaws. Read back what you have written in this thread. You are making yourself look either like Ruthie's lover/mother/best mate/biggest fan or someone who is so out of step with what is considered acceptable that they need to read up on etiquette a bit.

Perhaps she was trying to redress the balance, I thought Zoe was better than Colleen, her basic skating was better and she danced on her own a lot more which is much harder.

I think it was unprofessional for a judge to criticise another judge during the programme.

They can't mark how the hell they like - they have to be consistant throughout all the couples. Jason marks can be low but they are consistant throughout all the couples and therefore marks fairly (in his opinion)

Nicky dosn't have any continuity between his marking - its all over the show and doesn't seem to mark fairly between all the couples. A 0.5 difference between what Ray did and what Coleen did is ridiculous... However I get the feeling he would've given Ray higher; but couldn't because of Robin

They all have their flaws when it comes to marking, even on Strictly come dancing.

A score of 4.0 for Zoe by Ruthie who had a stumble is also arguably high. They all over-mark and under-mark.

Ruthie was just being a bitch.

She is not there to redress the balance and if you thought Zoe was that much better than Colleen then you and Ruthie both need to go to a well known opticians!

Her manners need addressing- her scores are her own as are Nicky's whether you agree with them or not.
