I don't get the tights-over-the-boots thing, that just looks really bizarre to me.

I wonder if the tights are to protect their legs or perhaps to keep them warmer?

I think it was Frankie who slid along the ice tonight. Made me feel cold watching her. Being an overprotective sort of person I worry it will cause arthritis in a few years.

I never get cold watching Frankie, quite the opposite.

Those tights do sort of remind me of the really thick support tights my old granny used to wear

They probably do serve as a bit of protection for the girls - and probably have a double thick pant bit to keep their bums warm

I was trying to figure out the order in which it all goes on to be honest !!!! Is it knickers, tights, outfit........... or just tights, outfit..... I sense your standard knickers would get in the way ...

They're skating tights. Those over the boot tights don't come in any colours but brown usually though there are several shades adn some are better than others.

They are extra thick and won't go to holes immediately if you fall on the ice as normal tights might.

The over the boot bit is supposed to make for a more elegant and longer leg line but that of course assumes decent toepoint etc and not everyone agrees.

I like the look of white skating boots but when I skate I use over boot tights to hide my manky skates and so I can wear my skating socks!

Theyre to keep the girls legs warm - like dancers wearing legwarmers. And for protection if you fall on the ice or slide on the ice.
