I am not aggrieved as I could not really care, the show was on because my wife loves it and I watch along with her, so I could not really care who wins, stays or whatever.

I just thought that the show was about Dancing on Ice, as that is what it is called. Todd can hardly stand up on the ice after 7 weeks training, which is bad.

The thing is, yes it was funny when he went off the ice, but it just proves how bad a skater he is, if we want to watch something funny then watch a comedy, not an ice skating show.

I am not being horrible here and it might be entertaining, but it is a reality show about the best skaters and he is not one of them, but if you think that is OK then fine and I am sorry I even made the point.

I wonder why the really bad singers do not win the X Factor, as some of them are really funny and really entertaining, but they never get through, so what is the difference, as that is an entertainment show as well.
the public don't get to vote on the really bad singers they only get to vote after the judges have whittled it down to the last 12

That was so funny. It was amazing to see Jason laughing, and his comments made me laugh too.

Skating wise - of course he should have gone two weeks ago. But if he had, we wouldn't have had tonight. It was great stuff.

I wonder if they planned that he would skate next to last because they expected him to be bad?

I am not being a killjoy or anything like that, as I like Todd Carty as a person, but the show is about skating ability and he does not have any, it is not called lets be really bad but give everyone a laugh on ice is it.”

Awww leave Todd alone bless him
He's great entertainment for goodness sake it isn't the olympics

That Todd moment is going to live with him the rest of his acting career. Yeah, it may be that good skaters go, but good performers like Todd stay. People have to find that balance between the two or it can be a dangerous area.

I am so glad Todd got through. I honestly don't get the people who complain a better skater was put out. So what. They lost 1 week because they would have been out next week or possibly the week after. When it gets to the last 2/3 weeks the better ones stay in as happened on SCD. Todd was hilarious and entertaining, that for me is more enjoyable than a mediocre skater clinging on week by week

I don't mind Todd staying in for a few more weeks either, and it's highly unlikely he's going to stay in over one of the actually good ones. So long as he's staying in over the quite rubbish, but not quite as rubbish as Todd ones, I couldn't care less.

This is an entertainment show about celebs learning to skate and seeing them wobbling is part of that. If they were all good, or worse, all average, it wouldn't be half as much fun.

As soon as Todd gets less wobbly, and assuming Jason doesn't get too vindictive, he'll be in that skate-off.

Jeremy didn't help himself by looking so offended by his low marks either.

Who gives a flying fig about best dancer and skater. If Todd can entertain the majority with some harmless fun and laughter then I for sure think he should be there. Its an entertainment programme and boy did he entertain me tonight.”

Yes I agree, these celebs should not take it so seriously,Todd really made my day.

I agree. I hope, however, that he doesn't stay at the expense of good skaters like John Sergeant did in SCD. I found him funny at first but after a few weeks it got a bit tiresome and when better dances started being voted off, that was it for me.

As another poster said its nice to have a laugh with all thats going on in the world and work tomorrow!!! Oh just forgot, Ive got the day off tomorrow.

So why did he only skate a couple of hours a day and even then, he should still be able to stand up on the ice, as he seems to be holding on for grim death at times.

I take it he is getting paid to appear on this show, so why is he only skating for a couple of hours and others are skating for 5 or 6.

The original point I made was that it was about skating, not comedy or entertainment, as personally I could not care if Todd wins the show and goes on to become Olympic champion at the next winter games.

The thing is, it seems that it is OK that he is there at the moment because the people that are going are not as popular as a celebrity, so it is OK they are voted out, but as said by others above, I am sure there will be people on here moaning when he gets through over a decent skater, which is my point, why is it different now and not in a few weeks, as it would still be entertaining now or in 6 weeks time.

I am not as miserable as I sound, as I do have a good sense of humour, but I just feel these shows are about what they are called, Dancing on Ice, not Let's be Entertaining but cannot dance on Ice.

Yes, it is, yet I find that I am still pleased that he is in it.

Don't apologise, you have as much right to make comments and give your opinion as anyone else.
I can see what you mean; much as I like Todd, his performance two weeks ago was excruciating, and he should have gone.
But the audience participation element of this show means that some people will always be judged by something other than their skating - e.g their fame/likeability as a soap star, their ability to entertain or whatever.

It IS entertainment; I think if it were only a show about who could learn to skate, dance, give the best performance on ice and show the most improvement in a few weeks, they wouldn't use celebs, or have a voting sysytem. It would simply become a Torvill and Dean masterclass involving novice skaters, and would appeal only to sports fans.

Catch-22 anyone?

If the celebs work their socks off and try really hard they are accused of being "too competitive"; if, like Todd (and Gary Rhodes in the last SCD) they don't put in the effort and time the others do, they are accused of not being committed enough.

Personally, I don't think someone can be "too competitive" to compete - doi and scd may be reality/entertainment shows but the essence of them is competition. And given the amount the celebs are paid to appear in these shows, they should do all they can to earn it!

think Todd should have gone tonight, would have gone out on a very memorable performance. Doubt he'll top that for comic entertainment again.

For those who want to watching Ice Skating, the European championship is on in Helsinki at the moment, available to watch on Eurosport.

Those who want to be entertained and not take it too seriously tune in next week to DOI

I watched some of the championships today and even they were falling. The line between success and failure on a move is very slim.

Todd was very amusing tonight but I do think he could have or cause a nasty accident. I am not really sure he wanted to stay, judging by his face at the result.

This is exacly the same as Aggie last year. She was awful and was voted in, (obviously because of the Scotish, no that was not offensive incase you think so) week after week.

I'm looking at you ITV, I bet ITV pick the odd rubbish skater to cause a frenzy which will boost ratings for the show. I wouldn't be suprised because us humans can be corrupted by greed so easily.

There is no comparison between the X Factor and DOI,the X Factor is a talent show to win a recording contract. DOI is an entertainment show with celebs paid to entertain us ,theres no other prize other than the exposure they recieve through appearing.

I felt that Todd was embarrassed at the result, and like you, I'm not sure he wanted to stay in.

The reason the competitive skaters tend to have more falls than they used to is because they are all trying stuff that years ago wouldn't have been considered. Nowadays, doing a double axel is nothing, it's the quad axel that is expected and gets the marks. And (experts can correct me on this) they get much higher marks for attempting a really difficult move, even if it doesn't completely work, than they would if they played safe and did something easier.
