Which is obviously your personal opinion. Myself, I almost gave up watching the show before Ray skated because at least his routines were entertaining rather than a so-so display.

Skating skill doesn't bother me so much as a lack of performance skill. Too many contestants this year don't seem to have edge there and that is what I think makes it less interesting.
I agree with this. Also Ray stands out partly because his personality stands out - I know not everyone likes this fact!

The others may still be too nervous about skating and performing to come out of their shells yet - but they will have to if they want to stand a chance. I wouldn't say anyone is dull, but they do need to liven up a bit LOL!

PS Todd is in a category on his own!

I don't think it's just a matter of personality with Ray. He is a very well trained ballroom & Latin dancer - to the extent he has been a youth champion. This training - especially the Latin - has made him an expert in performing while dancing with a partner. Hence the 'performing' side of doi will be 2nd nature to him, whereas something quite alien (probably) to someone like Ellery.

I didn't actually say it was just a matter of personality. I said it was also his personality when I was responding to clair2281's post which then linked to earlier posts.

At the end of the day he is a performer and entertainer.
