So, you wish to watch an incompetent (skate wise) make a fool of himself so that he can get some "air time"?
Call that entertainment? Miserable people like you take these shows far too seriousley. I loved John Sargeant on Strictly. His paso doble and cha cha cha were absoloutley hilarious, and I laughed even more at Todd last night. What people without a sense of humour don't realise is the like of Todd and Sarge would never win these shows. The public do vote on merit in the end, but at this stage in the show does it really matter? We have not lost a quality skater yet. Times are hard. People are losing their jobs, money is tight, homes are being reposessed. Shows like this lift out spirits and give us a good laugh. |

OP - No one you may consider worthy has left the competition because of the public keeping Todd in.
Had he left two weeks ago we would have missed out on the most hilarious spectacle I have ever seen on the show. Also seems to me he is trying hard and even better not whinging! This is entertaining skating at it's best. ![]() ![]()

Or....
How about those that are overly concerned about skating quality and are hell-bent on a serious competition, tune into Eurosport for the World Skating Championships or the like? The GBP aren't spoiling anything. It's our show and we are voting for who we want to watch each week. |

Why are people moaning? No ones forcing you to watch and endure this mockery as you call it. If you dont like the way the voting's going, switch off and let those of us who are enjoying the show do so in peace.

There are dozens of so called comedy shows on TV but only one skating show on terrestrial TV. Threfore may I suggest that they concentrate on the skating skills on DOI and leave the buffoonery to Brand (Jo and Russell),the Office,
Little Brit etc etc. I did laugh at Todd's antics but my objection was about keeping him in simply to play the fool. I do appreciate that most on here prefer slapstick to skill and perhaps this is a national trend in the UK. |

I have 3 things to say about Here We Go Again
![]() 1. it's very nearly the title of a song by Whitesnake - I only reference this as in the 80's I had a massive crush on David Coverdale, thankfully I have now recovered. 2. Yes there are multiple threads all of a similar vein - que sera sera and all that - we are basically inherantly lazy so why bother to read someone else's thread when you can start your own. It happens and posting that you find it irritating keeps the thread bumped up so...work that one out lol 3. I'm going to use the 'S' Word so buckle up. Schadenfreude... and whereas the worst that could have befallen M. Sargent was a wounded ego, I fear Todd may actually harm more than his self esteem if he carries on like last night - bless him - I will freely admit I absolutely loved the albeit unintentional comedy of it.. and sue me, I just thought of a 4th 4. If past experience from both DOI and SCD is anything to go by, the GBP will find the natural 'level' of things eventually equilibrium will break out - I commiserate for those of you who's favourite will fall by the wayside along the way - but That's Showbiz.... Excellent post - and very amusing. |

DOI is the only skating on terrestrial TV. I can't get Eurosport now.
I do realise it's so easy to be "one of the boys/girls" who loves "a good giggle" but I would appreciate one show where taking the michael is not an essential part of the show. Everyone on TV now wishes to be a comedian and erks like you lot keep these jokers going. To paraphrase: Laugh and you're one of the lads, don't laugh and you're not with the "in crowd". |

DOI is supposed to be Dancing on Ice but when Todd Cart comes along it's more like COI, Clowning on Ice.
Sure it's slightly amusing but not the world shattering laugh that some of the posters on here think. Can't imagine people still splitting their sides days after because someone shows how useless they are. Must be easy to make these people laugh. If you were an employer would you set on the clumsy idiot who makes you laugh or the most competent. If Cart isn't out this week the show is a farce. |

I also view the entertainment in different ways because yes Ray entertains me with his wonderful performances but also Todd entertains me with his comedy value. I liked Todd before his routine this week simply because he is funny and I dont think he will ever get that much better no matter how hard he tries. When it comes down to it,If I were an employer wanting to take on someone to entertain then I guess I would employ Todd because that is exactly what he has done. |

The fact of the matter is that Todd entertains people enough to vote for them. At the end of the day this is an entertainment show based upon a skating competition. The public vote is included to stop the predictable happening and for the judges not to have complete control over everything. If you dont like the way things are going then exercise your own power and vote for someone else. IMO Todd was really funny last week; I wouldn't necessarily have voted for him, but its moments like that that make these types of shows. Like JS doing his marching etc - its a weekend escape that makes you laugh and feel good. |

Look, ice dancing can be dangerous for both of the partners.
What would all the people who seem to be amused by Carty's tomfoolery say if he caused an injury to himself or his partner? Last years show involved one of the celebs breaking an ankle and he was a far better skater than Carty. No doubt the dopes who are calling for him to be kept in would disappear from this thread or maybe they'd find that funny? |

I'm sure they are all aware of the dangers before they go on the show, however I dont consider myself a dope for wanting him to continue in the show either so there, also dont consider that it would be my fault if anyone had an accident either just because I supported them. |

Judging by the warm resonse to Todds latest performance, the Great British Public do not want a competition, they want to sit down with their family, and watch a Light Entertainment Show.
Three cheers for Light Entertainment. |

How wide are the blades on those skates? Anyone know ? A skate blade is approx 4mm wide and is ground into a shallow concave shape across the width to give two sharp edges (an inside and an outside edge, which is what enables a skate to turn - putting weight on an outside edge makes the skater curve/turn in that direction and vice versa. Well that's a bit simplified but the right sort of idea)
