why did Frankie include moves Hanley couldn't pull off?

What is Frankie playing at? Surely it is up to the pro to showcase her celeb partner's strengths, not reveal weaknesses. Why did she create a routine that made Ellery perform moves he just wasn't comfortable with?
I think Ellery is potentially a high quality skater who could go far in the comp. He's charismatic and he has a warm personality. He is eager to learn, and he's happy to take criticism on the chin but if Frankie keeps coming up with terrible choreography like that, he'll be exiting early which would be a crying shame as, after Ray, he's the second most talented male skater in the competition in my view.
Come on Frankie, you have a great pupil. Pull your finger out.

Agree totally, I felt that last night the choreography did Ellery no favours....

Surely Jayne and Chris choreograph the routines.

The first week proved he could skate really well. So why the hell he was given a routine which seemed to barely include any skating at all, baffles me. It was a joke and deserved to be in the skate off, but thank god he was saved...

I'm not sure the choreography is down to Frankie; isn't it Jayne, Chris, Karen and Karen's hubby?

But I totally agree with what you are saying. The beginning of Ellery's routine was awful; it should have been dropped so he could go straight into the skating, which he did reasonably well.

We have a saying in dancing when competing - if you can't do it well, don't do it at all!! No one notices what you don't do, but they sure notice what you do badly.

Unfortunately unlike SCD the routine is not down to the professionals... I think it was in series two one of the girls was berated by Jason for all the lifts etc and hardly any actual skating, and she pointed out that it was the coreography she was given by Karen...! I think Christopher and Jane have a say in the coreography now as well.

Chris and Jayne choreograph all the routines at the beginning of each week. They then tweak things as necessary during the week, according to how well the celebs are managing. They presumably also take into account recommendations from the pros as to whether or not they feel the celebs will manage any particular move.

In series 2, Stephen Gately was having a problem with a lift and he kept dropping Kristina so Stephen and Kristina asked Chris and Jayne to change that move and they did.

Chris and Jayne have choreographed all the routines since the beginning of series 1. The only routines not choreographed by them are the Boleros in the final, as the required element there is for each couple to choreograph it themselves.

Karen and her husband help with the coaching. They don't choreograph the routines although I'm sure Chris and Jayne take into account recommendations from all the coaches as to the various celebs' abilities.
