Tonight: Franz Ferdinand
Never really rated this band THAT highly but always thought they were a better version of The Kaiser Chiefs but anyways really like this new album, didn't expect to like it as much as their first record but there's some quality tracks on this.

ive yet to hear anything by them thats any good apart from 'take me out', everything else seems so schoolboyish, very poor, with very uninspiring lyrics... awful.

i actually thought "Take Me Out" was their most overrated song and one of the most overrated songs of recent years.

I think the new album is significantly better than their second one. There's only one song I don't like.
I also much prefer the studio version of Ulysses as opposed to the version that's on the album. For some reason the album track seems out of kilter and just annoys me. |

I'll need to hear it before I'll rush to download,,,its getting very mixed reviews and I think their output has been diminishing in quality ...a band running low on songwriting ideas ? but as I say..I've yet to hear it

Seem to be one of those groups being promoted as Indie rock by the record companies to me.Too many of them & sound too similar to me.
I don't mind the Flaming Lips which is where the style sort of started (few other groups might have contributed to the style as well). There seems very little creativity with these groups apart from a few, perhaps.I am not totally against Indie rock - there is some good stuff out there - but it seems that the best are not getting to the top. This has become the mainstream at the moment it seems - boring like all mainstream rock seems to fall into,as more & more groups try & repeat the formulae that seems to sell in the era it existed. |

Given it a few listens and I really like it, much better than the second album.
Just a bit surprised at just how completely different the album version of Lucid Dreams is to the one that came out last year. As for Ulyseess - try to find the Kaschkes 6501 remix, much better than the original. |
