Does anyone else think "Hmm" whenever they hear the phrase: "Farewell tour"?

I know it sounds really cynical, but so many artists seem to do this so-called "Farewell Tour" thing, when they plug the tour will all these warnings about how this is the last time you'll ever be able to see them live etc etc.

Then a year or two later they're back on the road, claiming they changed their mind, just couldn't keep away, "it's in my blood," blah blah blah! It always seems like such a cynical way of making sure everyone buys tickets because no-one wants to miss out on that oh-so-special "last chance..." to see them live!

If they didn't have the Farewell Tour, how could they have the Comeback Tour and all that money from the merchandise/new album etc.

I'm pretty sure Cher and Streisand are two if the worst culprits...

Wasn't Frank Sinatra the champion of Farewell Tours?

Check out his Wikipedia entry.

I hope the Spice Girls do another "farewell tour"
I never got to see them first or second time around.

Same
Someone told me Cher's 'farewell' tour lasted years- how though? I don't really know anyone who likes her music.
