If Todd wins will it be the end of DOI
just a question as his odds to win have been slashed by the bookies.

It won't be the end of DOI. DOI is an entertainment show not the Olympics. Todd's performance will give a welcome boost to both viewing figures and the voting kitty. Besides, Torvill and Dean are confirmed for another two series.

I don't see why it should be the end of the series period
I'd rather Todd win than Jessica or Ray who have an obvious advantage over the others |

I also read that it was commissioned till 2011.
I agree that last weekend Todd was most entertaining, but in the end its always a decent skater that has won each series. |

I dont think it will spell the end of DOI, But it may help people to see that is just an entertainment programme and maybe future series will be better for that.

I know Chris Parker did on series 1 of SCD but with the surface being so much more precarious, it's much harder for someone who's not a good skater to get through to the end. Although, I must admit that I wouldn't mind seeing his Bolero!

If the public vote him in each week he'll stand a good chance of getting to the final. Just think .... Todd flying - it's enough to make me want to pick up the phone!!

Sooner or later the joke will wear thin and he'll be in the skate off. When that happens he's gone for sure.

Why would it be the end of DOI if Todd wins?
The very people that tune in and keep the show alive will have chosen their winner. |

Of course not, people take the show far too seriously, the right winner is chosen in the end.
And yes, I'm so curious about the Bolero for Todd, other celebs have already ruined it so why not an entertaining one? |

You've got nothing to lose by trying! I believe one of the contestants on DOI Australia did his flying routine after he'd already been voted out the week before
![]() http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=LrXZaQzFtlI His flying will probably be better than his skating. He wouldn't have to worry about keeping his balance and supporting his partner on a slippery surface. |

The threat to the show is if they are running out of celebrities good enough to match their series 2 and 3 finalists. If they are left with a few people with prior experience who start very good and stay there plus a few joke candidates and a mass of mediocre ones they are in trouble. |

Thats the theory anyway - though Norman Wisdom and Frank Spencer fell over an awful lot before they lost popularity. The problem with this series is that by the time Todd goes the audience vote and the odd bad week may have taken out all the people who may get much better amd will be needed to challenge Ray at the end. As its not clear even who the ones are with most potential its asking the audience a lot to manage to keep the people who clearly ought to go on lack of ability in and to throw out only the ones who won't be missed later on when the competition does revert to dancing on ice ability rather than falling on ice ability. |

I disagree. John Sergeant left SCD as he was getting over half the votes and was worried that he could actually win the competition. I'm sure those participating in DOI have been asked not to "resign" from the show in a similar fashion. He has as much right to win the show as anyone. It's an entertainment show after all.
I've never said Todd does not have the right to win. He entered the contest so of course he has the right to win. And I'm not one of those people who say he's ruining the contest. I thought his performance on Sunday was hilarious I must have watched it a dozen times. But I am a realist and I cant see his performances capturing the publics imagination for much longer. The only way I see him progressing much further is if the judges start being excessively mean to him and I bet they've been given a directive to not be mean to Todd; given what happened in Strictly and the fuss over JS. Todd is entertaining at the moment but I dont see him being around for much monger. |

even robin stated at the beginning of the show - the public should vote for the best skater to win so even the judges are saying it early to make sure someone who cant skate doesnt get through
i think it will be a farce if he reaches the final-i didnt even laugh on sunday thought it was quite pathetic |

It wouldn't be the end... but it would most probably lose alot of credibility...
I can see him getting to the final 5 or something and then being knocked out. However look at Aggie last year, she got to Week 4 and was then knocked out as she fell over (on screen). Todd didn't fall on screen, just made a very theatrical exit which was hilarious. Had he gone at the beginning/ in the middle before he was supposed to then I think he would be out. |

Yeah it wouldn't be an end to the show but may be a bit of a dent to it behind the scenes.
If good skating isn't being rewarded it may affect which celebs and pros are willing to take part. It would also rather change the ethos of the show in the following years - will people not bother working so hard because they know an amusing style will get them further? |

I don't think Todd will make it to the final - he's bound eventually to be in a skate-off and the judges won't save him - I think.....
But there's no denying, he was hilarious and for the moment, he's fantastic entertainment - with all the economic & political problems the world's having, he certainly makes us forget all the woes and roll on the floor with laughter
