Just a thought.

Reminds me of the 'interactive card' slot on my old Sky box that stayed empty for about ten years!

Any plans from Humax as to what it may or may not be lined up for?

It's just a standard CAM slot for insertion of a CAM to access encrypted channels.

Can be used with Dragon / T Rex CAM with a valid Sky card for example to get Ch4 HD and the likes.

(Or other non Astra 28.2 services with the correct CAM's and cards)

Not using a Setanta CAM from DTT, the satellite and terrestrial platforms use different encryption.

Setanta advertise a "Satellite" subscribtion, would it work with this ?

I am not a Sky customer, can I get Setanta Sports?

Yes, Providing you have a digital satellite set top box.
Taken from Setanta's website.

** Sorry didn't see the word "satellite"

the satellite and terrestrial platforms use different encryption

I've looked for information onthe Dragon/T REx CAM. but this seems to require some complex programming before use. Is this the only way to use a Sky Freesat card to access their channels on the FoxSat HDR?

Yes it's not quite as simple as get CAM insert Sky Card and view.

Some slight jiggery pokery required etc (loader). Oh and the card needs inserted back into Sky receiver every 6 weeks to reawaken it.

Oh and one more thing, they may not work at all with the new Sky cards rumoured to be due out in April.

Think that's it.

At the moment i am using a diablo cam and programmer pretty simple once you get the hang of it normal sky channels work fine but the hd ones do tend to pixelate a bit just have to keep your eye on the underworld file as it needs updateing quite often.

Thanks for the information Snoods and Gagde. As I don't have access to a Sky receiver at the moment it looks like a non-starter for the time being. A pity as Channel 4HD would be the attraction.

i use a dragon cam with a sky card to get the c4 hd and the five siblings. I find it worth it for now but you only seem to need a multi cam for multi sat use.

It would be nice to stick a WiFi card in there, but doubt it would work.

A Diablo WiFi running Gbox can share a Sky card that is in the card slot of a Dreambox. The advantage here is that the Sky card will autoupdate in the Dreanbox & does not need returning to a Sky digibox every 6-8 weeks.

If you are just using the Diablo CAM with a Sky subscription card then once it is working you should not need to update it. The frequent new versins of the Underworld firmware are to evade the measures taken by other subscription channels that are decrypted by the CAM without a subscription card.

Thanks never knew that saves me getting the programmer out every few days or weeks.

What's the score with recording Sky channels using a diablo/t rex cam on the HDR?

I have found you can record them fine with the diablo but have found if you turn over to another channel whilst you are recording when the recording has finished you can play it but states about descrambleing the file,so if you choose to descramble you cant fast forward or rewind now if you record a sky channel but dont turn over the channel at all when the recording has finished you can now fast forward and rewind so it does have its good points and bad.
