Are you talking about a freesat box or a sky+ box?

I'm not aware that Thomson made freesat boxes.

Thomson did and still do make sky and sky+ boxes, so perhaps this thread needs moving into the sky+ forum?

It's not a "DV3" that's not the model number. That logo is actually meant to be "DVB" which stands for digital video broadcasting, and just about every digital receiver has that logo now. you will find the real model number on the bottom or back of the box. If it's Thomson, the model number usually starts "DSI..."

You can format the hard drive from the installer menu (Services 4 0 1 select) and to a "full system reset" but that will of course wipe all your recordings.

If that doesn't fix it, it's either a faulty hard drive or a faulty power supply, Thomson boxes are well known for poor quality capacitors that fail and cause all sorts of problems.

I see this has been moved into the PVR section. Of course Thomson make Freeview pvr's as well as sky and sky+ boxes.

Perhaps the OP would tell us what the box is and someone might be able to help him further.

Well for this problem, Thomson put a menu item in to the engineering menu to bypass it. From memory you go to menu -> Help -> info then press 1397 and you get into the engineering menu. One of the options on the list in the last few firmwares is one to turn off video preview in the recorded items section. You turn it off, go to the record list and delete the problem file. When you exit the record list, the option is automatically turned on again so you have to get it right first time or go back to the engineering menu and do it again.

Menu > 4 Setup > 6 Help > 1 3 9 7 > 7 Disable library video window > left/right green arrow on remote to select "Yes"
