Black DVD Player with HDMI output and DivX Playback via USB
Like the title says, I'm looking for a DVD player that will let me plug in a USB stick with .avi files on them and watch them directly from the stick. Also, if it was black in colour that would be super!
Any recommendations? Paddy

are you sure that is **all** you want to do??? I have seen a lot of posts that start like this, but then they want to start copying it to the HDD, and more...
there is a post here, about the pioneer & sony, that will do variations on this.... BUT if you want to copy the movie to the HDD, it will take a long time - it would be simpler and faster to make a Divx DVD..

I have heard great things about that Philips machine, the only thing putting me off it is that when you plug something in from your flash drive it only displays the first 6 characters of the name of it, and I intend plugging in a rather large flash drive and having all my stuff stored on it, so it would be very hard to find what I want when most of the names are abbreviated.
The LG DVX392H does everything I want and doesn't abbreviate the file names, but is extremely hard to find and is actually cheaper than the Philips. ![]() Paddy

A few months back I bought quite a pretty piano black (PS3 colour) Samsung Upscaling DVD Player with HDMI output and Divx support; for £50. Now, it doesn't have the USB flash drive support you wanted (as I've never seen a player that does), but could you not buy a re-writable DVD and copy the Divx files onto that for playback?
The other obvious alternative would be the PS3 itself, but thats almost 6x the price. |
