I can appreciate that. I remember years back, finding out that the kids in the Saturday morning TV programmes were plied with sugary drinks and snacks before filming, so they were all mildly hysterical and screaming for three hours on a sugar rush, to enhance the atmosphere.
I wonder if they give the DOI audience a free coke and a packet of skittles on the way in then

Seriously, they have to calm it down for the performances to be properly enjoyed by us at home too. The squeals just don't come across well on TV. They sound like howler monkeys on helium.

Calculator - I laughed at your post. Maybe they saved all the redundant red smarties just for the show.

I have an image of them handing audience members bags of the stuff and not letting them in until consumed!

A moan: The audience are so full of whoops and screams, they're spoiling my pleasure as a viewer. I like enthusiasm, but they squeal and clap at absolutely everything and it's getting too much for my ears to cope with. Nice they're all enjoying themselves in there - but shouldn't they give a thought for us lot out being aurally assaulted with high-pitched wooooo after wooooooo ??

Is it just me being a grump or are they whooping up the crowd too often for your liking too ? And what could we do about it ?”

Totally agree with you - they are a typical ITV audience. Its one of the things that makes me dislike X factor so much and why I cannot watch programmes such as Saturday night Takeaway. Strictly audience is far more civilized.

LOL! I bet you are not far off the truth!

Cornchips - I agree 100% - good shows are spoiled by the audiences so we stop watching - it is like the old canned laughter on comedy shows years - a total turn off!

I feel sorry for the skaters trying to start with the audience making a racket, you don't get that on SCD.

I agree - the celebs must be a bag of nerves and then they have the audience yelling out at them too. Some yelled at Ray just before he started his first routine and he could easily have lost his concentration - he has confidence on the ice the others lack too.

Yep - and always has been.

When the audience boos frantically as one of the judges says something like,
"Well, it wasn't the best routine I've ever seen - you really didn't look comfortable out there,"
after a celeb has spent most of the music buffing the ice with their rear end it really annoys me. What is the judge meant to say?
"Fabulous! You've taken the traditional approach to ice dancing and literally turned it ar*e about t*t"?

There is support (which is to be encouraged) and then there is the chav "CARRRMM MON BARRY!" type screams just as they are about to start their routine that are just low lives wanting to get noticed.

And as for the silly BOOing of the judges, that should be stopped altogether. Do they want or expect all the judges to always and only ever say nice things all the time to every skater no matter what? What would the point of that be? Again a little groan or BOO when a judge gets personally offensive is ok but the loud hate-filled BOOing every time someone doesn't say that the dancer was perfect is nonsense.

LOL! That is what I was talking about in my post but you have summed it up better than I.
