I have just purchased this item: http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav/na...&isSearch=true

It has 3 manually switchable scart inputs for one output. It also has an RGB switch. It has no power supply.

It certainly works fine but on closer examination I can notice some slight noise in the picture and it also seems a tiny bit darker(barely noticeable) too. It is defintely RGB as my tv comes up with "RGB" on/off when I switch the box to rgb on/off, and things certainly do sharpen up with the rgb switch enabled on the switch box.

By contrast, when I compare the picture to connecting the sky box directly to the TV via scart, the picture is perfect, no noise, nice and bright.

I don't want to comprimise on picture quality here and am willing to pay a bit more for a good scart switch box. Can anyone recommned a very good quality 3 way manually controlled scart switch box? I presume the really good ones have a power supply to ensure no loss of picture quality.

If you post your equipment and requirements I'm sure we can help you set up a daisy chain that may help you avoid the box and the loss you are experiencing.

I took the switch box back to B&Q and got a philips switch box from comet at £25 which had a shorter run of scart cable with gold plated connectors(gold at all 4 inputs as well). It has no RGB switch. Picture quality coming through in glorius RGB and almost indistinguishable comparing it with direct run of scart cable from sky box to tv.

I suspect the scart switch boxes with extra functions, like pushing a button to activate RGB cause some signal loss.

I should also point out that I have a 36" CRT. I doubt if the signal degradation with the original scart box would have been noticeable with a 28".
