Hi All,

In my haste to use my Hummy I did not reformat the HD and quite a large chunk is allocated to other media can I reformat without losing Programme content recorded ??

I guess I could archive it off and do it then copy back but a bit of a pain.

You can archive if it's not Hd and if it's smaller than 4GB unless you use a ext3 formatted drive

Watch everything you can't transfer and transfer the rest

Sounds like you added another drive. One way to save your material if important would be to buy an external plug in Hard Drive dockport such as this:

(A few of us have got these)

and then plug your original drive into the dockport, copy your files across, re-format your new drive, then copy your files back from the external to the internal drive. Even HD files work this way although you do lose chapter thumnails.

Transfers may take some time though. HD files around 1 hour each, SD films around 20-25 minutes each through USB 2.0. Some people with the latter drive have opened the box up and connected a dual SATA connector to enable SATA transfers however, I can't comment on how well this works or if there are any dangers in doing this. Obviously this goes beyond a straight disc swap as you're interefering with connections and so I would expect Humax would take a dim view of this from a warranty standpoint.

Thanks for the replies thought it was a no seems a bit odd hummy alocating so much to other media. Wil have to kep my eye open for a reasonable priced disc and caddy.
