Thought id check out some Dvds on my new Panny before through my PS3. Started off with the shining but all i saw was 4.3 half the screen was chopped of never had that before when watched on my Previous HD Ready Toshiba. I then tried another Dvd Texas Chainsaw Massacre The Beginning also checked the aspect ratio on the back which was 16.9 it played that fine. I did try changing the aspect ratio when watching the shining but nothing happened. Anyone else had any problems.

Check the DVD player menu settings for picture set up. You want the player set to 16:9.

Are you using HDMI?

What AR it the copy of The Shining that you have?

I had that problem with my ps3 as well where certain movies would come out with those horrible black bars at the side. i set the upscaling option to full and it never happened again.
