Ray's skating: flashy but overrated. Will he peak too soon?

I'd say he's already done that - his routine in week two was a slow routine skated to 'You make it real' and that showed how much control he needed to have. His nerves got the better of him last Saturday it was clear from the VT he puts so much pressure on himself.

I so agree with you and I think that's what Jason was saying as well but I think we might be disappointed for a few weeks but hopefully towards the end when it becomes more important they will revert to highlighting his skaing/dance and partnering(connection) skills.

I wasn't trying to imply that Chris didn't develop his skating skills at all - what I said was that he didn't develop as I hoped he would. He began with confidence and aplomb but, while he learned a few more tricks and skated some good routines, I wanted to see him really turn into something special. He didn't imo. He still never really convinced me as a dancer on ice.

Ray isn't the only one out his comfort zone. I don't understand why he shouldn't be challenged as much as everyone else?

Oh I don't think he has. He seems like the type that's determined to get better and better and fight harder.

To me Ray seems to be the type of person to push and push himself and really speaking I think he is pushing himself too far, too quick.
From what I have seen, he is very good. A lot of the other celeb skaters can't skate on their own and once they have to start doing that, they will come unstuck.

If all the celebs were being made to perform the SAME routine we would be able to see just how much they are all being 'challenged'!

Ray appears to be more able on the ice and is getting more difficult and dangerous routines than many of the others. This is unfair and may be his downfall.

he obviously wants to do that though. If it was really that hard and they thought he could not do it they would pull the move out the routine it's been done before.

Plus if he stays on one level and does not try these moves that could also be his down fall too. I'm glad he his trying new stuff and trying raise his own bar everyweek. Its good to watch

The bit he tripped on he was actually getting it perfect it training watch the mid-week training clip. Just on the night nerves and maybe the paper story of his childhood girlfriend who sold a story on him took over his head.

That doesn't make sense. Would you really want to see Ray and Todd performing the same routines? Bearing in mind what you know Todd to be (in)capable of?

Why would you want to restrict someone who is capable of exceptionally high standards or extend someone far beyond what he can do?
