On the face of it Donal has had limited training and even with the fall - given his skill level put in a better performance than Donkey Underwood. , whom is in his second year of appearing on DOI and was a reserve in series two. Result Donal deserved a reasonable score for at least trying while Donkey had had enough training to have been able to skate as good as Ray.
As for the old chestnuts by the whinging male contestants then they won't do so many lifts as the female professional skaters would be at risk pf serious injury as was nearly proved when Melanie got hurt. Even in Series Two she objected to some of the lifts Kyran wanted to do for her own safety.”
Melinda addresses that in one of the ITV webvids. She points out that the women have to know how to be lifted and to hold themselves and then come out of the lifts, usually in strange positions and dizzy from being swung round, and then have to get their balance immediately and carry on with the flow without the transition looking rough. I liked her: she didn't say the women have it easier or the men have it easier, she just said they have different challenges.
