When are we going to get more HD channels on Freesat.BBC dont show many and what they show is still not varied enough.ITV is total rubbish, maybe three or four programs a week.I wish they would get their finger out,Sky seems to opening new HD channels all the time.If Freesat want to keep customers then give us more programs soon.

Sky subscribers are paying monthly HD fees for their HD channels, where does the money come from for extra freesat HD programming ?

Of course it would be nice to have more HD, but it's not going to happen anytime soon, the next HD channel that will appear on the freesat platform in my opinion will be Channel 4 HD when it's free from the Sky contract.

If you wan't a wider choice of HD, it's there, if you are willing to pay for it.

The BBC claim they are underfunded so can't afford more HD output. The others are in dire financial difficulties because the internet stole all their advertising, and Sky charge them so much for insertion into the Sky Guide.

As the contracts with Sky end, the other channels will move to Freesat's program guide to save money.

To save money?

You don't seriously believe that Channel 4 HD will leave SKY's epg totally when/if they decided to join the freesat platform

And give up their Sky subs and rely on advertising which you say the internet has stolen!!

You've answered yourself why channels won't leave Sky and why all the new HD channels are going to them.

With Sky HD outselling Freesat HD by three to one, nothing will change. In fact it's making C4HD's decision to go FTA and stop receiving Sky's funding/uplinkling a much less likely outcome in the short term.

This thread just has to be a add for Sky, i don't have freesat because its got more or less HD channels i have it because i don't want to pay throu the nose for it. when i am not paying sky subs i want a box that lets me record the free channels. Sky demands when you are not paying for channels that you pay rent to have the option to record.
There anytime option on there units don't relate to the package you have with sky so you end up with a lot in your box that you can't view. most of all I can't believe that anyone believes as you claim that people like me will dump our freesat box for Sky . Can anyone tell me do sky pay staff to set up daft threads to promote them

CH4 have a public service obligation in their charter; they're in trouble financially and looking for help from the Government. It seems very unlikely that they would get away with not moving on to Freesat as soon as possible.

Its not a bad thing of the OP to expect Hd channels and less repeats on a £300 HD PVR box now is it ?

No not at all, I think we all expect it but if we get it soon is doubtful I guess. The opinion is CH4 HD will be the next later this year. Just more quality content would be nice too as Freesat does not suffer from the same limitations as Freeview does. Dave, Five us, Fiver and Virgin 1, all are on Freeview and the sooner they come to Freesat the sooner I can get rid of my Freeview PVR and make a bit of space under my tv lol.

I seriously doubt Sky increased their customers by 3 to 1 over Freesat, I think the jump is likely due to the £75 "Pay once watch forever" customers being included and a lot of those will have cancelled after 4/6 months and moved to Freesat or FSFS.

The public service obligation doesn't mean they have to go on Freesat, and doesn't apply to any HD channels anyway.

I certainly would expect them to eventually, but presumably it's all down to been able to afford to do so, and finding room to do so.

What has the retail price of a Humax box got to do with the content that is available from the broadcasters?

If I had a Freesat STB (which I don't!) I would most certainly be looking to change as the quantity of HD (even looking into the medium term future!) would be totally unsatisfactory to me - so the idea isn't as totally crazy as you suggest! (And I don't work for SKy either!)

Why does it have to be that anyone speaking in favour of Sky is working for or being paid by them? Is it paranoia because you don't feel your choice of platform is giving you what you want? Is everyone posting in favour of freesat, Freeview or virgin working for them?

You pays your money and makes your choice free UK TV with very limited HD or Sky with up to 32 HD channels.

My point is that he as bought a HD PVR box and all he wants is more HD channels , he seems ticked of with BBC repeats and the current ITV offering , it just so happens he paid £300 for it ..........and I added a which maybe you missed

Its not against posting rules visit , view or post in a section you don't actually take is it .

I visit and post in the Cable , Std Sky ,freesat and Sky Hd sections but have Sky+

I keep an open mind as to what is good for me so visit other forums to see what is available , open your mind to alternatives to freesat

What is right for me may not be right for you , you may want a few HD channels and free recordings , I want lots of various channels and get free recording as part of the deal

Lets just compare notes and help everyone

I can't get Cable , freeview reception is quite poor , I want Subscription channels including kids , lifestyle and football so it kinda limits me to Sky over the uk possibilities

Purple button = Red button ?

I am a Sky subscriber BUT also have FTA receivers and at present am in no way even tempted by a freesat receiver which to me appears at least as crippled as the Sky dodgiboxes that everyone in this forum seems to hate. I too come here for information and to help people and also to correct errors where I spot them. Perhaps when (or maybe if) freesat receivers and the freesat platform mature sufficiently to meet most of my requirements I may replace one of my FTA or Freeview boxes with one.
