Poor Donal Was Severely Undermarked...!!!

Agree Donal was excellent tonight. He has improved so much and seems willing to really push himself and try harder routines.

fter last week and this I think Ruthie has a thing for Zoe. Her marks for her are so over the top. I think Zoe is ok but she does very little skating by herself and last week she was awful.

Much improved from last week. Good performance.

I was wondering if I was the only one who thought he was badly undermarked. Like Nicky said, his performance made the hair stand up on the back of the neck and certainly me shiver with excitement (as did Rays performance). What Donal and Ray are doing better than all the others is skating fluidly.

The judges really need to rewatch tonights show. He deserved at least 4, across the board. And if you take into account his improvement from day one, he deserves even better.

And they didn't give him nearly enough credit for all the adventurous things he tried. How in the world could his performance have been considered on a par with Colleen and Ellery. I'd like to see Colleen try ANY of the steps Donal did!!! Noting that both Donal and Colleen started with about the same amount of skating experience!

If Donal gets voted out by unjust voting, I'll be devastated. No wonder Jason got booed so loudly. On this occasion it was deserved.

And I am surprised at Robin not appreciating the technical difficulty and fluidity of Donal's skating.

I want to see Donal or Ray win as their skating is actually exciting to watch.

BTW, I am glad to see Christopher Dean championing Donal each week because HE is seeing the effort and commitment that Donal is putting in.

All Jason is seeing is spite in the mirror!

Yes hes obviously not one of the judges favourites. He deserved to be higher up the board.

I thought Donal was undermarked. The judges forgave Zoe when she wobbled, why not do the same for Donal? He may now be my favourite!

I think Donal is really improving each week. I thought he really gave it his all yesterday. He listens to the judges and he really tried to improve his performance. I really like him and think he seems a really nice person too. It was great when all his fans shouted Jason down

Totally agree, Donal put in his best performance yet. As Morganna-sb said, the judges forgave Zoe, so why so harsh with Dolan?

He tries really hard, makes improvements week by week and is modest. Maybe if he cried more, clowned around and generally emulated a 'look at me' personality they would award him more points. Pah!

Hummph! I'm giving you the cold shoulder until you stop being horrible about Ray!

Anyway...Donal...I hate it when the judges don't appreciate a particular celeb more. He seems to be caught in the middle - not really bad, not really good and no judge is favouring him (not that that is a good thing, but is it happening e.g. Ruthie with Zoe). It must be so demoralising for someone in this situation - it happens on SCD too.

I agree, I thought he deserved better marks than he got. He is my second fave male skater and IMO deserved 3rd on the leader board.

You take a look at his journey so far and he deserves better marks than that.

Very annoyed at Ruthie this week.

Grrrrrr.

Aww don't sulk sexy! Have a <smooch> anyway

And if it's any consolation, Ray didn't annoy me as much this week as he did last

I'll go with the majority here - I absolutely agree. I thought his performance was incredibly charming and other than Jessica is the main one that sticks out in my mind.

Yes I know he fell, but I still believe his performance was worthy of 4's across the board.

Fingers crossed he survives. He's coming across well and is one of the few that's actually shown a fair degree of improvement.

I hope the fact he's relatively unknown doesn't work against him.”

I am not sure I would agree with 4 more like 3.5 A half point knocked off for the fall but overall it was quite a good routine

He was undermarked by some, but overall not hugely undermarked in my amateur opinion. However, I agree he did very well, and I'm very glad that he was kept in. I think he'll do better next time.

I absolutely loved his suit as well!

The suit was mad, wasn't it? It was kind of awful but the lovely Donal carried it off and made it look fabulous, I thought. Part of me thought, 'oh my God, this guy is a serious journalist, not some Z list celeb and look what they're making him wear', but yeah, he did make it look cool.

That's one of the things I love about Donal, he obviously doesn't take himself too seriously and is totally up-for-anything and game for a laugh.

yes i thought so too ! a great improvement since week 1.

I actually sat and watched on saturday night thinking im gonna start going to make my cup of tea when Jason and Ruthie start talking.
You see Celebs working their blinking hardest to get crap comments from them both then you see the likes of Melinda whos not shown much improvement and particularly Ruthie big her up so much !
Same as Colleen, lovely lovely lady but they big her up so much and the likes of poor Donal just keep getting knocked down.
Its getting more and more obvious & tedious as the wks go on.
I just dont see the point of Ruthie on the show shes just there to be judge nasty number 2.
Rays michael jackson, technical difficult routine and they slam it down, giving him just one mark extra than someone who cant even skate as half as well

I prefer listening to the ice skaters comments, they actually no what their talking about.

Ive nothing against constructive critisism but seriosly some of the stuff that comes out of ruthies mouth i think shes making the stuff up as she speaks it.

Hi Cody,

Totally off-topic, but how come you've been a member for the best part of 3 years and this is your 1st post?

I was going to say 'welcome', but it's kind of not appropriate if you've been around for a while... 'Welcome' to posting, then!

Agree with you about Ruthie, I am not a fan of hers at all.

Welcome to the forums - your first post was bloody brilliant!

I cringe when Ruthie comes out with comments like "you have a lovely smile" and "you have such power and strength" and "you're a fighter Zoe!" You don't need to be an expert to hold such basic opinions. The woman is utterly pointless on this show.

Welcome anyway and I agree with what you said - I hate unappreciated effort.

Donal got my vote this week - I really enjoyed his routine and thought his recovery from the fall was brilliant - I was glad Nicky commented on that - everyone heaped praise on Zoe for getting over stumbling last week - imo, she didn't do a fraction as well as Donal did. Even with the fall, I felt he deserved better marks. Definitely undermarked, imo

I agree. I saw Ruthie Henshall in Chicago about 11/12 years ago..she was magnificent. But as a ice dance judge, she talks rubbish.
