What the heck was the camera up to in the middle of Jessica's skate?

All of a sudden, we seemed to be seeking a light show, rather than anyone skating.

It's hard enough to tell how well a contestant is skating with some of the camerawork they normally have, but not showing the skating at all is surely taking it too far!

Yeah I noticed that too.

I don't like it when they do an aerial view of the skaters as you miss the footwork .. they seem to be doing quite a bit of that this series.

Their programmes are short enough to start with and with some of them we miss bits of it due to having to look at the top of their heads, with no idea what they are actually doing

Either some cameraman fell over or they were making an artistic point with the swirling colours and forgot that it was a dancing on ice show and seeing the dancer was kinda necessary.

I'm glad someone else noticed this cos it was very annoying, I couldn't give amonkeys about their artistic graphic light display, I want to see what jessica is doing. The direction seems toget worse on this show.

I do believe it was intended to be selective editing to show Jessica's skating in the best possible light and is in keeping with the light entertainment aspect of the show

As the shots are usually set up beforehand I suspect that there were supposed to be skaters in that shot...

They did it with Michael , too - a close up of a pair of lips blowing a kiss in time with the music in the middle of the rink, never mind what Michael and Melanie were doing.

I don't think so. It was definitely a shot of the lights!

I hate the poor camera angles too. Sometimes the shots are from such a long distance that you can barely see the skaters to identify them, let alone see the moves that they are doing.

I really hate the camera work on DOI. I was moaning about it to my poor mother last night during the show. It really gets on my nerves. I hate aerial shots and would prefer just one camera following them round the ice.

Where abouts was it through the performance? I don't remember it. I remember when it was done with Micheal and the kiss on the ice rink

EDIT: oh do you mean the bit where the camera sort of goes upside down and swirls back to the ice rink? If so, yes that is annoying
