From Liverpool myself and I have never heard of term 'lobscouse' but we do have a stew called 'scouse' and that is where the term comes from.

Origins with Irish immigrants and is a type of Irish Stew with a lot of potatoes in it and lamb traditionally though I make it with Beef - and still very popular

yeah, scouse the stew is a contraction of lobscouse, so we mean the same thing

He's looking great is Ray. His body is pretty toned and although he still has a baby face I must admit I can imagine young girls fancying him as he is a cutie.

He's an absolutely FANTATIC skater. Really superb.

Mmmm I've been working all day (still am actually) and haven't managed to eat yet, all this talk about 'scouse' stew is making me hungry ... anybody got the recipe?! (PS you learn something new every day don't you - I never realised that was where the term came from either!)

And I'm afraid I have to agree about Ray, he is looking fantastic, but I also have to agree with an earlier post about his hair needing a makeover! On one of the weeks he had it falling forward a little over his forehead and it looked much better even like that.

I hope his little stumble from last week helps him to 'pull back' a little in her performance this week, I don't mean make it totally safe but just to rein it in a little so the little errors don't occur, he's a fantastic performer and very talented - tbh my daughter wanted him to win X-Factor over Leona Lewis and she loves him even more now!

Everyone makes scouse different from one another hun, but this is how i make mine.

2pt of Water mixed with 4 Oxo's
Baby potato's in their skins
Carrots
Onions
Turnip
Leeks (sometimes)
I tend to use minced beef.
Salt & pepper.

How does one cook it, on_tender_hooks? Fried, boiled etc?

Might have to knock one up to go with DOI on the 15th...am in a technical rehearsal this week. That'll give me something extra to look forward to

EDIT: Oooh, yum, like the sound of this too:

Sorry but I find him disturbing to look at. He looks like the kid in the adams family crossed with a yappy dog.

Great on skates though!

Sorry to go off topic again - but just wanted to say thanks to all those who answered my question about the meaning of "Scouse". In this "PC world gone bonkers" how long is it before calling someone a "Scouser" is going to be politically incorrect?!!

I think we should either change the name of this thread to 'Scouse' Stew, or recreate a new one under Ray's guise of being a scouser!

Thanks for the 'Scouse' Stew recipe, I seriously am going to have a pop at that now, probably in time for Ray's skate on Sunday lol.

If anybody has any other variations on the recipe (bendy might as she first mentioned it here ... or is it a secret recipe to the true scousers lol ... come on share with us and let's have some fun )

What's swayed this for me is the baby potatoes in their skins ... I def would be adding the leeks I'm afraid, sucker for them!

Now I've seen that it can be lamb or beef, minced beef is another interesting twist here ... I may be swayed towards the diced lamb personally - any further suggestions?

If only Ray knew what he had started here lol!

Anyway, I've been up and working since 7am this mornng and just emailed my final job of the day over now so I'm shattered and need some sleep - night night all x

Final post before bed (honest!) Me and my DD were at the closing night of the tour last year when Chris did his solo skate when Frankie was injured, it was amazing and the atmosphere was absolutely electric, an unforgettable night.

But ... given the same situation I do believe Ray could also carry it off ... I do hope his popularity grows as the weeks go on becuase IMO he does thoroughly deserve it, and once again just in IMHO he is getting a lot more ribbing than he deserves.

Night night x

JaynieD,

I think Ray will get better & better TBH, fingers crossed it won't be long till we start seeing the 6's for him.

I am so glad you where able to go & see the last show of the tour, are you going to be going again. Its a shame they are not in the Liverpool Echo Arena, would have been fantastic for Ray to perform there.

It was like Chris last year, everyone was on the bandwagon saying nasty things about him, he didn't deserve it nor should Ray, they are totally different type of dancers, Chris was an attacker type of dancer and Ray is more of a gracefull type.

I agree with you about the last show of the tour, Chris was amazing and deserved his standing ovation! If you watch the Dancing on Ice Tour DVD it shows him waiting to skate out on the ice. He looks really nervous and all the other skaters were wishing him luck.

I've noticed they are making his outfits extra tights or have them done up really low down.
All the other mens are done right up and a loose fit

Not all girls/women do AJ. Personally I prefer a gentleman with intelligence, wit and gentle charm.

I'd settle for anything these days, but after years of going for looks, charm, wit and a sense of humour, oh yes and good looks and a gorgeous smile, I'd just be happy with a big fat bank balance in a bloke these days, stuff the rest

You went too then?! It was amazing wasn't it, me and my DD have watched that solo bit on the DVD loads of times and we can still feel the memory of it now, the disappointment when they first announced he couldn't skate with Frankie and the boos, and then when they said he was going to skate solo the complete eruption wasn't it!!! Me and DD were jumping up and down and screaming too, it was amazing!

I sooo, so hope Ray does the tour this year, we've got rinkside seats booked for Sheffield and can't wait!!!
