i8510 Users!
Are you all still happy with your handsets? Have you fallen in phone lurve with them?
Have you any dust under the screen? Where some of you have changed the unlimited texts to the web bolt on, I am wondering if it would ever be possible to make a combination of, say, 300 mins and 300 texts and then the bolt on - are tariffs un-negotiable though..??

You can only get on tariffs through the CPW or subsidiaries and those are non-negotiable. The change of tariff is technically wrong but some people have managed to get away with it.
Yes, I think my phone is absolutely brill. I've gotten dust on the screen but that goes away with a simple wipe. Dust under screen hasn't been a problem for me yet but you just have to be a bit careful with that hole under the screen when the phone is fully slid out. I try and do most things without sliding the phone open. |

I am very pleased with the phone - but I am not sure it is better that my old N95 - it excels in some areas and falls a bit short in others.
I am having issues with videos - they will not play on my PC unless I change the MP4 descriptor to 3GP - then I have to play them in Quicktime. I have to admit though, Samsung customer services have been magnificent - they have tried to sort out the issues for me (to no avail yet). All in all a great phone. I am on a £35 o2 tarrif that gives me loads of minutes and texts and a free unlimited web bolt on. I also got the phone from CPW so it was free. There is a brand new version of PC Studio, simply called 'New PC Studio' which is very slick and very Web 2.0 - but having downloaded it under advisement from the Samsung CS, it failed to recognise my phone and I have reverted back to 7. |

Same tarriff I have been on for years (primarily for the call minutes allowance).
According to tarriff small print, an MMS message is charged at 4 x SMS messages - so I can send 250/month (I am lucky if I send 2!!). I don't ever recall seeing MMS messages as a separate element on my bill. I think the o2 accounts systems went TU a few years back and they never quite got their "MMS-charging act" together. |

If you have an unlimited data plan, like mine, then you pay no extra for GPS tagging - as the only data the GPS systems (for photo tagging) uses is the aGPS approach - a very quick burst of data to triangulate off cell towers, prior to relying on the GPS satellites. If you use it abroad it will class as roaming and will be pricey. The only other issue is that GPS tagging is not automatically on (although this may have been changed in the latest firmware update).
Have not tried Route 66 as I have a spearate sat nav. I have tried Nav4All - but the phone crashes when it goes thorugh the GPS set up. |

Does GPS tagging give an actual place name?

No... just a long and lat - that way, if you view the images using Picassa, you can then open Google Earth to see where they were taken.

I was on that tariff on o2 (£35 - xxxx mins and xxx texts) with a free bolt on because my tariff was £30+.
When it came time to upgrade - I went onto o2 simplicity (with the same package but a much lower price) because I wanted the i8510, but o2 did not stock it. I was prepared to wait. Eventually, after getting tired of waiting, I went into CPW and enquired what I would get. I explained what o2 tariff I had and that I wanted to keep it and the CPW guy said, "OK"... I guess you may not be able to get it as a "new" customer. |
