Assigning amplifiers
Not going to bore you with the details but I have a rectangular shaped living room and the only possible viewing layout means I have the surround speakers of my 5.1 set up to the side of one viewing position, but nothing close to the second. Is there a 7.1 amp where the spare two channels can be freely assigned? Like most, my Denon can use the spare 2 to Bi-Amp the main L&R channels but what I want is to use them to send an output to a second pair of surround speakers. I know I could use a cheap amp on the pre-out from the main amp but wondered if a neater solution was available?

I haven't come across any integrated amp with that sort of functionality.
The pre-out idea to a second amp is really the best solution. You will need to find a power amp that has level trims though so you can match the volume from the primary rear channels.

Yes, that would work.
