BBC red button services on HDR
Does using the red button when watching BBC interfere with recordings?
This afternoon, the HDR failed completely to start a recording (Midsommer Murders on UTV). This was the only recording scheduled at that time, and there was no warning that I noticed. At the time Midsommer Murders was due to start, I was using the BBC red button to watch the sports multiscreen and had selected the cricket scorecard and commentary. When I turned the HDR on it was in the 15 minute period prior to the start of a recording. The clock was showing and it came on immediately. So it was expecting to record. It was about 20 minutes into Midsommer Murders when I noticed that it wasn't recording. I changed to UTV and Midsommer Murders was indeed being broadcast and the programme information was correct. I had also been browsing text services at some point, so I can't be certain exactly what was being displayed at the start of Midsommer Murders. However, it would have been a BBC red button service. Speculating as to what went wrong, I came up with the following options. - The HDR had allocated both channels to the sports multiscreen - one for the stream it was showing, and one for the BBC channel that I pressed the red button from. - Whilst handling red button services the HDR missed the programme start signal for Midsommer Murders. - UTV failed to send the programme start signal. [The programme information on UTV was correct when I checked 20 mins into the recording.] Any ideas? |
