We are on to our 4th LCD TV since Christmas.

The TVs are connected to a V+ box via HDMI cable, a Panasonic Home Cinema System & Wii via Scart and, on occasion, a Canon HD Camcorder via component.

In December we bought a Philips 32" 5000 series TV from Littlewoods direct. This worked OK for a couple of weeks but then the screen started going blank for 2 or 3 seconds at a time. This happened through all connections no matter what the source. This was replaced with identical TV which developed identical fault after a few days.

After talking to friends and checking reviews we sent back the Philips and, on 10 Jan, bought an LG 32" 4000 series. This was OK until Sunday when it developed a pixel wide vertical blue line about 3" in from the right edge of the screen - this extends from the bottom to 3/4 of the way up the screen. We shall be receiving a replacement tomorrow.

My question is have we just been unlucky or is there maybe some unknown deadly LCD sin that we are unwittingly commiting?

Any advise on how to keep this new TV for more than a month would be most welcome. We are seriously considering going back to the old fashioned CRT.

The only sin you are committing, is buying the wrong brands. LG are more like a budget brand and I wouldn't even dream of looking at anything branded Philips - highly unreliable!

That's not to say that the more "respectable" brands don't have problems though, but you would probably be better off with one of them.

I would agree, buy more reputable brands.
