Well Trinity28, my advice as always is to check out the network providers coverage in the postcode area's that your most likely to want to use the service in. You can do this by visiting O2's & Virgin Mobile's Website's. Look for the UK coverage map. Secondly, are the majority of numbers that your likely to call on either of these service providers? Hope that may help you to come to a decision.

Virgin's Daily Bonus is preety good, 15p a min to any network, plus you get 5 free mins after making 5 mins of calls each day

Virgin's daily bonus works out at 7.5p/min over the first 10 mins each day, but then 15p/ min after that. ASDA mobile at 8p/min flat to all networks is a better bet (unless you make more or less exactly 10 mins of calls per day) and £15 with ASDA would buy you 188 mins of talktime - more if you top-up instore as they add another 10% on I believe (that would get you 206 mins)

As you talk more than text, I think i'd be looking at call charges more than what free texts I was getting, and choosing a deal where you get free anytime (or off-peak, depending on your usage) minutes as a bonus for topping up.

Have you thought about a sim only contract? You only need to give 30 days notice at anything to cancel your cancel your contract, so no lengthy contract 12 or 18 months. Have a look at the O2 sim only deals, they are pretty good. For 20 a month, you get 600mins and 1000 or unlimited text, they do 15 a month too, but I think the mins are slightly less, but I woudld think it's still cheaper than PAYG...

Depends how you use your phone, doesn't it. Remember that those 600minutes actually cost you £20. Whereas the minutes/text included with PAYG are free, you still have your credit.
People need to work out how they use their handset and decide which combination of tariff/service is best for them.
Some examples: if you make a couple of calls a month then Asda PAYG at 8p a minute will be the one for you. If you call the same group of people and use the internet, then on O2 payg , £15 a month with get you 500texts, 1000minutes to Your Ten numbers, a months internet and still have £2.50 credit to spend on other things.

Virgin uses the T-Mobile network. I have found the T-Mobile network to have the worst coverage of all the networks although it is hardly an issue, having said that though, the prices on Virgin are good and the customer service is excellent. I was with Virgin PAYG for 2 years and would definitely go back.

O2 have good coverage and I have found their customer service good. On the face of things O2 look pretty average, but you do get some nice surprises (a good thing) where they give free texts and free minutes regularly.

Whichever network you choose you will not be disappointed.
