ITV HD - FA Cup last night not recorded
I had problems with the hummy recording the footie in HD last night.
I was out, and came back around 22:40. I went into Media to watch it, and it wasn't there. There was no REC on the front display, although it was flagged in the Guide to be recording. I could press the Red button, and got the after-match commentary in HD. They were talking about missing seeing a goal live due to technical difficulties, but I don;t know whether it was isolated to that or the whole match having problems? After that, I went back into Media, and now there was an item for it there, but with 0 minutes, and a notice that it was a "Failed Recording". The box had been left on BBC1 East, booted up, not in standby, with no other recordings taking place, so I can't explain it. I see there is a thread in the Freesat forum where a few people were having a problem with the Red Button during the match. This was so disappointing, was going to be my first bit of sports watched in HD ![]() Les. |

The HDR was behaving as it should. I think ITV HD did not send the 'start of programme' flag to prompt the HDR to begin recording. After 2 hours, the entry appeared as a 'failed recording'... |

OK, thanks.
Glad it wasn't me, or my box - I'll have to email ITV and have a rant. Even though not much a game, I would have liked to see it; for 1, footie in HD; 2, I'm originally from Merseyside, and nice to see a derby. Rgds. Les. |

although an awful game I thought the tension of the crowd and the players came across well with ITV HD AND I saw that GOAL live. I am a neutral but glad Everton won.
Its such a shame ITV have the FA Cup, the coverage is dire and it will turn people off. FA act now. gb-- |

It started fine for me in HD but they flagged it to stop after 90 mins, so it would have missed the ET.

It definitely started the recording, and saved OK in your Media List? It didn't do this on mine, nor son_t's. What regional ITV 1 channel did you set the record from? Did you pre-set it from the Guide, pressing OK, and choosing HD option, or did you do an instant record. Thx. Les. |

)Wonder why mine didn't work then? One more question - is that from ITV London as channel 103 in the Guide, or from 977 (I think). Thanks for the info. Rgds. Les |

My box recorded ok although I also watched it live anyway, it did stop after the 90 mins and would have missed extra time, this quite often happened on sky too. I did see the goal live though, HD didn't seem to be affected.

Mine failed as well - although I watched extra time live fine on ITV HD.
The Big Match Revisited seems to have not recorded today either, although next week's is set to record. |

My SR timer for the FA Cup Highlights (on sometime later after the live match) did not record... I'm not sure whether it was shown, or because of the ET, the shift of programme times, screwed up the SR timer. If it is the latter, then it goes to show how poor the Freesat+ 'metadata' system is with coping with sports programme over-runs! |

Thank you for your email. I've replied in addition to other comments, that I don't find it convenient at all to have it as a Red Button !!! I wonder who, and how many, viewers have been telling them the Red Button is convenient? We’re sorry to hear you experienced problems recording the game on Wednesday. Our engineering team has been informed and they will make a full investigation. The High Definition service from ITV is in its infancy and we plan to schedule an increasing number of HD programmes in the future. We’ve already broadcast a wide range of high definition content on the service including sport, movies, original drama and factual programmes. Details of all programmes that we plan to screen on ITV1 in high definition are made available to listings’ magazines and the market leaders are already publishing them. Additionally, both the ITV.com website and the Freesat website highlight forthcoming HD programmes. We have no plans to broadcast our HD service on a separate channel at this stage. Viewers have told us that they like the convenience of receiving the ‘press red’ prompt on ITV1 when an HD programme is transmitted. We hope this information is of use to you. Once again, thank you for taking the trouble to contact ITV. Regards, ITV Viewer Services ds Probably because Freesat PVR is still in it's infancy. So, I suggest all of you Freesat+ HDR owners email ITV Viewer services and tell them you would like a separate channel, or we'll never get one. Email Link :- viewerservices@itv.com Les. |

Yes - my highlights failed as well as the main match - both worked fine with Sky+. Freesat+ is proving to be pretty unreliable for me at the moment.

I have to agree. It started out so well, and I was about to retire my Freeview+ PVR too. If it carries on like this... Freesat+ is going to be a joke...

What is your local ITV region? Maybe the Freesat+ data was updated on some regions properly...
I use ITV London at 977 to record ITV HD and the highlights. You would have thought they would make a special effort to get this channels data running accurately as more than the regional viewers depend on it! |
