New Firmware Foxsat-HDR expected soon?
wjharing

Hi, the latest firmware is now almost 3 months old (10-Nov)! Is there any news with regards to releasing a new firmware update for the foxsat-HDR?

There have been so many small/big bugs reported, as well as many improvement requests. I think I can speak for most that we are eagerly awaiting news on an update and some of the annoyances being resolved for this great piece of kit.

Cheers,
Wouter

No news, so probably not.

Are there any bugs that are so serious (with no work around) that you can't live with..?

As for feature requests... you'll be lucky...

yes, the main annoyances that should be easily fixable:

able to delete recordings while watching another one, or while recording other shows.
able to delete recordings in the back-ground
while checking the EPG, keep the existing channel play (i.e. use the second tuner for the EPG when not in use). Therefore only use the first tuner for the EPG when second is used or not available
only create folders for 2 or more recordings. option not to use folders in the first place
schedule: move the scheduled recordings to the bottom, when the next episode is no longer available (instead of at the top of the screen, so you are forced to remove it, or scroll down pages before able to check what will be recorded today)
These are my main annoyances that can be easily fixed with a firmware.

I thought that Humax had a good reputation for listening to their customers.

Or is that where it ends - listening.?

I'm actually not too sure if they are listening I think they are too busy working on the iPlayer, rather than fulfilling people's requests: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...d.php?t=897932

Oh, well you will have to live with them for a while. Your annoyances are not going to stop the box from working, are they?

But the box locking up when recording 2 programmes at once is a bit more than a minor annoyance. (and the only 2 other people i know that has the box have also had a lock up).

Not had one for a while though but thats probably because i avoid pressing too many buttons on the remote while recording 2 programs, which seems to be the main cause.

I suspect the lock ups while recording two programmes at once might be your (and the two others with the same problem) box, rather than all HDRs (i.e. it is not a fault/bug in the firmware)...

My box, certainly, does not exhibit this problem and it has done a lot of simultaneous recordings with watching another channel or playback at the same time.

If your box carries on like this, then you should consider returning it or swapping it out at your retailer...

I record Eggheads (for my wife) and In the Night Garden (for my grandson) simultaneously every evening at 6:00 and we have no problem watching other channels or viewing recordings at the same time.

For the most part i have no problems either but occasionally when recording 2 programmes and pressing lots of buttons on the remote it locks up.

"dont press lots of buttons" i here people say !!!

The HDR is designed to record two programmes at the same time. If there is a problem in the firmware related to this, lots of HDR owners would be up in arms about it and we've would have heard by now! So if you are having consistent lockups with simultaneous recordings, then most probably it is your box.

It depends what you mean by lots of button presses... I won't be surprised if actions are slightly delayed, but I find doing the normal stuff, like surfing the EPG, playing back a recording, etc., works just fine without a lockup, when there are simultaneous recordings going on.

If you can make your box lockup during simultaneous recordings repeated with a combination of button presses, and someone else can repeat this on a different box, then maybe it is a bug that you can report to Humax for fixing... (and then read post #2 )
