Sony DVPNS708 vs Samsung DVD-1080P8
I would like to pick up a cheap and cheerful upscaler to use with my series 4 32" samsung LCD and the choice has come down to these two.
Does anyone have either? and if so what is your opinion regarding thier SD upscaling abilities? The reviews seem pretty split!

What I've previously been told is this; an HDTV has the ability to upscale DVD's. With that in mind, it's worth finding out if the scaler in the TV will do the job better than an upscaling DVD player.
If you want a cheap and cheerful upscaler, it may not do the job better than your TV... |

1) By connecting via HDMI it frees a SCART socket on your TV. 2) If your TV is a really cheap one, with a crappy upscaler, it may produce a very worthwhile improvement - but with a decent TV it may well be worse. |

I 've got the Sony DVP-NS708H connected via hdmi to Sony KDL32D3000 which I consider to be a decent set , dvd is set to output 1080p ,the tv's onscreen info shows as 1080p.
I know that this is not full HD but the picture quality is still very impressive. It has certainly been a joy to go thru my DVD's again one by one .Blu-ray will be a long long way in the future for me . Oh by the way it's also multi region check out the link.... http://www.totaldigital.biz/index.ph...oducts_id=2654 |
