How long do you charge a new Ipod for?
Sorry if this has been asked before but I'm a little confused. Some people say you should charge it for 12 hours while others say you should charge it until it says full on the screen. What's the best method of charging it?

Charging it after it's fully charged does nothing except waste electricity.
Saying that, when I got my new iPod Touch at Christmas, I just got on with using it and couldn't care less about first use charge - the effects are minimal anyway. Also, don't believe the "discharge fully before re-charging" brigade, that's nonsense and a fully depleted battery does more harm than good. |

Won't it tell you in the instructions?
I got a new Mp3 player recently and it said I had to charge it till full, which would be about 4 hours, and it was. |

iPods don't come with instructions, just a basic Quick Start Guide that tells you nothing more than how to Sync with iTunes, turn your player on and play music.

Initial charge should only take about 2 hours, not like the old days when new appliances take 16 hours.
To maximise battery life, ensure wireless is off when not in use, and equalizer set to off also. Switching it completely off by holing the top button sometimes consumes more power than just putting it on standby, as it draws a lot of power to start up. I use mine in bed to view BBC iPlayer for about an hour every night, but set the screen to low backlight and get about a weeks worth of battery from it. |

I got a new nano the other day and it says 'charge fully or at least 3 hours'. |
