Panasonic TX37LZD85-SCPT860-SKY HD-XBOX 360 connections

Have set these 4 boxes up as follows:
HDMI1=SKY-HD – Optical Cable1 - SCPT860
– HDMI Cable1 – LZD85
HDMI2= SCPT860 – HDMI Cable2 – LZD85
HDMI3=XBOX360 – HDMI Cable3 - LZD85
HDMI1 enables SKY HD box to use Dolby Surround
HDMI2 enables DVD’s to use Dolby Surround
Question: How can I connect the XBOX via the SCPT860 to also get Dolby Surround? I have an alternative cable with the XBOX with optical connection, but cannot be inserted at same time as HDMI cable so lose 1080p.

Can anyone suggest a solution please?

The Xbox 360 optical problem defined:
The Xbox end of AV lead plug is too big to allow both it and the HDMI lead to be connected at the same time.

Two solutions:

1) Take an AV lead with optical out, then break open and remove its case. It will then fit. Here's a "How to..." video [link]

2) Buy an aftermarket* lead like this [link]

Once you've got optical out from the Xbox then you'll need an optical switch. You're looking for something like this [link] There's lots to choose from.

Hope that helps

Chris

* Microsoft don't offer these for sale as an accessory. It's only available with the Elite and a couple of special edition versions of the console. 3rd party suppliers are the only source of this lead.

Many thanks, Chris.

I'd already purchased the TOSlink switch when I discovered the XBOX problem.

Poor design from Microsoft, or maybe deliberate, but not if only 3rd party accessories are getting the additional revenue.

Have everything working through the switch now, so will order the accessory for the XBOX.

Cheers.
