UK R&B star Jamelia reveals chart comeback plans.

“Jamelia has vowed to return to her old sound when she records her fourth studio album.

The R&B singer revealed that she is hoping to repeat the success of her 2003 disc Thank You after its 2006 follow-up Walk With Me failed to set the charts alight.

Speaking to Take 5 magazine, the star confirmed: "I'm going back to the sort of stuff I did on Thank You, more pop stuff and more R&B."

Asked if she will travel to the US to work on the album, she replied: "I'm going there to do some of it. But I always maintain my links with Britain. I'm proud to be British and love living here."

Jamelia recently expressed a desire to work with Beyoncé in the future.”

I love all three of her albums, so I'm really looking forward to what she's coming up with next.

I used to love Jamelia, she had a few big hits that I love! I particularly love; Stop, Something About You, See It In A Boy's Eyes, Thank You, Superstar.

D'you think she could dominate the charts again?

Honestly, yes.

The problem with the last album was the way it was (or wasn't, to be specific) handled.

Jamelia's a smart woman, which is why she left (wasn't dropped) Parlophone. All she needs is the right team behind her and she'll be fine.

She has the looks and the talent. As long as the music's good and she has a great promotion team, she'll do fine.

The songs from Thank You were great, so if she releases material of that quality again she should do well (I hope) She gets a lot of slagging on the forums at times for being a "flop", but she's actually done pretty well overall and her material has been respectable.

She'll find it tough with acts like Rihanna and Beyonce, who seem to dominate here in the UK now, also Leona Lewis and maybe even Alexandra Burke. But Estelle turned it all around for herself when she collaborated with Kanye West, so maybe Jamelia will come back with some great songs again, she's more than capable if the songs are good.

Yeah, and her management have confirmed it too. So did someone at her old record label.

Thats funny because artists CANT leave record labels unless their contract has expired - it is legally impossible, and Jamelia had another 3 albums left on hers. A record label can drop an artist at any time though. That how artists get tied into deals. Im sure Jamela's management and herself agreed that this is what they would say as it clearly sounds better than being dropped. Ulitmately though, she was dropped due to poor record sales and a large marketing spend.

I hope so, I always liked Jamelia.

And also, perhaps she asked to leave her contract, and the label agreed - I dont think that is at all unlikely lol.

Jamelia wasn't dropped at all. She's as honest as they come and really doesn't sugar-coat things. If she was dropped, she'd have NO problem in saying so. Also, just to add - there wasn't THAT much spent on 'WWM'. There was promotion for the first two singles, but next to none for the album.

Contract wise, Jamelia was coming to the end of hers. They "owned" her for a certain number of years and for a certain number of albums, which is why her Greatest Hits project was just rushed out there so that both parties could honour their terms & agreements in the contract. Parlophone had asked her if she would consider signing a new contract (obviously, as her current one was reaching its end) to which she declined and told them she didn't want to be apart of it anymore.

I suggest you do a bit of background reading first, because her first album did much worse than 'WWM' and yet Parlophone didn't drop her. They weren't going to drop her after 'WWM' bombed, either. Parlophone were eager to get Jamelia back in the studio onto the next album. JAMELIA is the one who ended that business relationship, not them.

It pretty much went down like that. Parlophone wanted her to re-new her contract, but Jamelia wasn't impressed with how they handled 'WWM' so she basically said 'thanks for a good 10 years, but I'll go somewhere else'.

What could Parlophone do? She was coming to the end of her contract anyway. Dropping her would have also cost them, too, because they'd have had to pay her a fair amount of money.
