Anyone have any ideas on how to take the noise of the hard-drive away. I like the features on it but the noise is very annoying.

It could be the noise of the fan which you are noticing, which the TUTV vestel models wharfedale, luxor, sharp, ferguson, bush and digihome do not have

There is a vestel alba, which is reputed to be quiet, and maybe still other latest vestels too, which use the freeview+ (non tutv) 7 day epg and recent versions (with series link) of earlier vestel software (which do not get sl)

One does gets used to the noises so guess it is still fairly new, and maybe you could exchange it for a vestel?

Otherwise you could use an external remote power socket, or an external electronic timer, to pick up recordings or epg download at 1100 to 1200, while switching off the power when not in use
