I'm wondering what I would be best off going for out of the two. Don't really want to spend over £180 on a new MP3 Player so that limits me to either an 8GB iPod Touch or a 120GB iPod Classic.

I currently have a Zune that I am going to get rid of and also a HTC Touch Diamond that I use at the moment for listening to my music. I've been thinking of selling this and going for the iPhone. Though it would be hard for me to do that seeing as there are a lot of developments going on with Windows Mobile.

When I went into the local CPW store, I wasn't too impressed with it (the iPhone), having played around with it for a few minutes. I just thought, I might sell the Touch Diamond and find out that I am no better off, no more satisfied with the iPhone than with what I already have.

The issue I have with choosing an iPod Touch is that it is so similar to the iPhone and that capacity is still less than the Zune (that I don't rate too highly). If I bought an iPod Touch then I might well be thinking after, why didn't I go for the iPhone instead.

Then there is the iPod Classic, 120GB which would be more than enough storage capacity for me. I listen to music mostly when in the car, so which one would be best to use in that situation?

At least with buttons I guess, you have a better idea of what button your touching where with a touchscreen, you have no idea whether the button has been pressed for sure or not. Well that's at least what I experience with the Touch Diamond.

I've no idea what limitations there are with the iPod Touch either for applications. Is it possible to run the Facebook Application on the iPod Touch?

Are the games really any good?

Would appreciate some advice from someone that knows more than I do about iPods.

If you forward a lot of texts or send a lot of MMS then the iPhone isn't for you. However if you are not fussed about these two features then the iPhone can't really be beaten. It has the world's most popular Applications store - view it here through iTunes

There are thousands of Apps available including a Facebook one. Are you worried about buttons because you are trying to use your phone in the car while driving?

Windows Mobile is currently a disaster - No one has any idea when 6.5 will ship, let alone Windows CE 7. To put it all into perspective, the iPhone has sold more last year than all the Windows Mobiles put together.

The buttons thing might be an issue. I love touchscreen devices though, just while driving, they are not the easiest things to use. Feels far different from pressing an actual button, which makes me think I'd be better off going for an iPod Classic. It is the music I want it for mostly anyway.

Having Wi-Fi would be great on the iPod Touch. Might use it at uni for Facebook App but then I am at a computer most of the time anyway. I have Wi-Fi at home, here and at uni. It's just when I am out and about in other public places where I might want to go on the Facebook App that I wouldn't be able to unless of course I went for an iPhone.

As for your point on Windows Mobile, a lot of people are saying how sluggish it is. I have to agree on that. I don't think the software has improved any from Windows Mobile 5 to 6.1. I still like the Touch Diamond though because its quite small, not too big, decent resolution screen and the TouchFlo 3D interface looks nice too. I had an Xda Orbit before that and the difference between the two devices in hardware specification is quite significant, yet wasn't too impressed by the Diamond performing tasks any faster.

I love my iPhone and most others do - it has the highest consumer satisfaction rating for any mobile. Get along to an Apple store and ask them to demo it.
