Looks like from the link given by DAVE02, they'll be using the "Xtraview" encryption method. Oh dear, this could be fun...

No reason why it needs to be on Mux A, it will be FTA video accessible from an MHEG authentication application.

Also: can a new thread be created for this rather than cluttering up the changelog with speculation and rumour?

The Freeview EPG changed yesterday on LCN96 to show the change from midnight tonight. I will be having a look at the streams later on to see what CA system they are using. I guess TVX has set a precedent for Mheg PIN protection courtesy of TUTV and that would be sufficient although Arqiva can use any encryption on their mux without need for any further Ofcon licence.

The Babestation encryption system looks suspiciously like the TUTV system used for TVX. LCN96 is using a 6 digit PIN compared to a 4 digit PIN for TVX. The Mheg data stream is running continuously at 21kbps. Both the video and audio PIDs change when encryption is turned on and the original Babestation pre midnight PIDs are used for LCN94 smile TV2 as it's on the same mux and carries Babestation after midnight.

Only on FreeSat, Freeview doesn't yet have its own guide in a form that can exclude groups of channels. Even when it does, there will be millions of boxes in homes that cannot implement the segregation.

Teletext Extra is now updating listings again from TUTV capacity. I got 11 days worth of listings last night from Mux A.
