Change: On 30th September
"Some viewers who receive their Freeview service from a relay transmitter will lose ITV3 and ITV4. As a result of moving position on the Freeview platform, a small percentage of homes will find they lose these services after retuning.

Viewers in England and Wales will also lose access to ITV2+1 to enable the proposed launch of a new ITV1+1 service."

The Community Channel will close in areas that have already gone through switchover.

If partyland is on Ch. 97, where is TVX off to? Glad these channels are getting the push down the EPG to be honest!

MHEG-5, or ISO/IEC 13522-5, is part of a set of international standards relating to the presentation of multimedia information, standardised by the Multimedia and Hypermedia Experts Group (MHEG). It is most commonly used as a language to describe interactive television services.
-----
We often to refer to "MHEG" when meaning digital text services, banners or off-air captions, or the text overlay you get on digital radio on Freeview.

If you have any further queries, please post in Digital Spy's Terrestrial Technical forum.

The MHEG (slightly different version) popped up on Five today as well. I've only seen it on ITV1 and Five so far. Seems fairly unintrusive and only to pop up once.

Change: Digital UK inform that ITV3 and ITV2+1 are to move multiplexes. ITV2+1 is to continue on Freeview in England and Wales until new ITV service (ITV1+1) launches. The source document from Digital UK states that ITV2+1 will move to channel 33. (Speculate on this subject in the discussion thread linked to below).

Change: Pay TV Service Top Up TV will have its anytime services moved out of its current range of channels to 307-310. (See also Top Up TV Changelog)

Correction: In post 205, the line that reads "40 Rocks and Co 06:00 - 21:00 (was channel 40)", should read "...(was channel 49)".

Rocks & Co ceased broadcasting today 29/9/09 and is just showing a mheg caption on LCN49. Early this morning Rocks & Co was only broadcasting a caption/ident on its midnight to 2am slot on CNN LCN84.

At the moment of writing there are only 9 video streams on Mux A in London (normally 10).

QUEST should start soon .....

Hi. Retune day is almost here, and no doubt many will want to report & comment about the changes to the service that they get. Before posting here on the log, could you just make sure of the following:

Please ensure that you have a verifiable source when reporting any change.

Some "changes" (e.g. channel gone from Freeview) may not be a proper change - but result from an issue at your end.
Certain boxes or TVs will handle the retune differently. In some cases, reception issues may mean that your box or TV can't receive all channels tomorrow, in others it might be that the memory in your TV/box is full, and can't take any more channels. In some regions, signal strength is being increased, and duplicate channels may appear in the 800s. Please check your box/TV/PVR, and check to see if others have the same issue. See the Technical Forum (for TVs/STBs) or the PVR Forum (Freeview+).

Details of the new, confirmed channel line-up and multiplex allocations will appear in this forum by tomorrow night, along with links to official websites. If your channel line up doesn't match the official line-up, please check your box/TV/PVR and the appropriate threads.

Sorry to ramble on, but this is to make sure that the Changelog only has the official, confirmed changes recorded on it tomorrow. Thanks for reading this, and I hope you don't encounter too many difficulties tomorrow with the retune.

The Nationwide Retune Thread will continue to contain a live running commentary on the changes.
The Quest Launch Day Schedule Thread and Quest Update (Merged) are tracking the launch of Quest and its programmes.
www.tvretune.co.uk has more information on what you need to do from lunchtime.

Thanks to all the contributors to the Freeview Changelog.

Any news on Winter Hill, I did a re-scan just before twelve, it moved QUEST to 38, but it looks a bit higgledy piggledy at the moment. For instance i've got ITV4s instead of ITV4. I mean it is ITV4 but I don't know what the s is doing at the end.

The only real difference this has made for me is that I can no longer receive ITV4, so that's good then. I think this is the first time a mandatory rescan has caused me to lose channels - not that I've ever been able to get all of them in the first place. At this rate I'll be back to the original 5 before long.

Also, is there actually any technical reason why I should now be able to receive a channel that is essentially unnecessary (ITV2+1), while not being able to receive ITV4 in any form? I'd gladly swap one for the other. In fact, I think I'd rather have ITV4 than ITV3 given the choice.

And oh yeah, I forgot about Quest... I'd been dying to see TJ Hooker again.

If your channel line-up does not match the final line-up posted by SkyPaulusPlus above (Thanks for posting that - you are quicker than DMOL with the line-up!), it may be due to reception issues in your area or down to the way your box or TV handles the rescan.

You may need to do a factory reset.

Where to get further advice: Please see the main Freeview forum, the Technical forum (for Set Top Boxes and TVs) or the PVR forum (Freeview+). The PVR forum is divided in to brand names - so you may be able to get specfic help and advice from those who own a PVR like yours.

------

Further official changes to the line-up will appear in this log to help you see if you have the correct line-up where you are.
