Found it a bit dull, to be honest.

She looked amazing too - an incredible 64!

I hate it when they have random old has-beens on these shows, at least make the performers relevant instead of somebody who's peddling their 74th Greatest Hits compilation.

Should've had Alesha Dixon.

...... and was that recorded earlier? She seemed to be performing in the place where the judges usually sit. Either that or a quick set change. ”

I heard her talking to Michael Ball on his programme this morning and she was on there for about ten times the amount of time she spent on DOI tonight!!! I bet she cost a FORTUNE!!! Why don't they have some of our own guys on the show instead of flying her so many thousands of miles to sing one song?

I bette you did.

Actually I really liked it. I felt the skating and the singing went beautifully together and made a lovely start to the show.

Bette is a legend and very current. Her sellout show in Vegas demonstrates that. She has had many hit albums and constantly gains new fans.
I enjoyed the new version of the track tonight and thought it was a classy understated performance.
I love Alisha but to say that you wanted to watch instead of Bette. They are v different perfomers.

Bette was brilliant (as per usual).

Really enjoyed her performance and Chris and Jayne's dancing. Wonderful.

I think it was recorded slightly before because the voice over guy didn't say "we're live .." so i think it was recorded slightly before the live show. I think it was live from when J&C talked to Phil.

Too boring to watch (or listen to) in full.

Fortunately, since I was watching a recording, I could FF past most of it.

It's an emotional song to say sorry for always taking centre stage. You should watch Beaches, then the lyrics would make sense .

I thought the performance was great, although probably would have preferred Wind Beneath My Wings.

Not sure when the performance was recorded, but the vocal clearly wasn't recorded at the same time

looks like musical guests are going to become atleast semi regular this year. I don't think there is one for this Sunday but there is a confirmed British artist performing on the show on the 22nd

Taken out of context, the words may be patronising, but the song is from the film Beaches, and following on from previous dialogue, it all makes sense and isn't patronising at all. It's a real tear jerker ....

Loved the vocal.

Couldn't be bothered to watch the skating, but then I never can when T & D are on now.

No - it - doesn't.

That she even performs in Vegas shows she's far from current.

I thought it was lovely and agree with a pp (sorry forgot who), that the song, singing and J & C skating to it went beautifully together.

Sorry - I just don't get her appeal at all. The song's OK though, and TBH I'd have preferred to have watched T&D dance to a plain backing track. Every time they cut back to BM I was cursing at missing the skating.

I think to really appreciate Bette you have had to follow her career. I know Alisha Dixon is good but will she be around and performing at 64, I think not. Bette is a good all rounder and some of her films are hilarious. However, if you want a good cry then Beaches will fit the bill especially when she sings Wind Beneath my Wings. She is wonderful. Still it wouldn't do for us all to like the same thing.

Love the song and the words - but much prefer Sir Cliff's version.

IMHO as with many songs one of the best versions is the original by Julie Gold who wrote the song - but Nanci Griffith made it famous and her version has great emotion and chokes me every time.

I don't think Bette is a good singer really and I much prefer her doing comedy, acting (and singing) or performing in a something like her Las Vegas show.

She was on Loose Women this week as one of the women for the whole show and what a genuinely nice down to earth person she is. There was no Hollywood diva anywhere in sight and she was just fantastically normal - my admiration for her shot up.
