I have my Foxsat HDR and DVR (Panny EX88) connected to my TV via HDMI. I also have a SCART from the Foxsat TV out to the DVR AV2 in. This is so I can record from the Foxsat to the DVR (DVD burner and editing). I use the TV out SCART from the Foxsat because it gives RGB (the other SCART does not).

Now, when I select AV2 input on the DVR, the sound on the Foxsat HDMI to the TV is lost although the picture is OK. Sound and Vision go to the DVR OK, and the HDMI output from the DVR to the TV is OK - sound+vision.

To get the HDMI sound back from the Foxsat, I have to change the DVR input back to its own tuner, put both DVR and Foxsat into standby, and then power them up again.

Anybody know what is going on ? This did not happen with the Foxsat HD. What SCART lead is causing the Foxsat to disable HDMI sound ?

How wierd, don't know why this happens but can suggest a possible workround. On most TV's at least one HDMI has a alternative audio input either analogue stereo or digital S/Pdif. The foxsat has both available so send the sound from the foxsat to the TV by S/Pdif if available, if not use analogue stereo

Thanks for your comment on my original thread.
Yes, we seem to have had similar problems - me with video & you with sound.
I resolved mine with a reset of the Panny EX88.
Even though the problem appears to be with your Foxsat connection, you could try the same, it may have an effect.
Have you tested whether the Foxsat works OK by leaving the Panny in full standby which allows pass through via HDMI with upscaled video.
I guess you will have checked the integrity of your leads and swapped over the sockets on the TV - just to see if they're all the same.
Good luck.

It is now working - although I don't know why, but various combinations of unplugging and power-down/up seem to have done the trick.
What I did was:
- Used the Foxsat PVR SCART to see if that had the same problem. Result was the EX88 'crashed', it wouldn't respond to the remote at all.
- Unplugged SCART completely, switched everything off, and then on again. EX88 now working again.
- Attached to Foxsat PVR SCART - HDMI sound and vision OK
- Attached to Foxsat TV SCART - HDMI sound and vision OK, although I didn't actually try recording anything.
I suspect the order in which devices are switched on may also affect the result.
