I have a SanDisk Cruzer 16GB USB drive with both .avi and .mkv files on that I play on my pc but would like to watch on TV.

Is it possible to upload these files to the Humax and thus watch on TV or are there problems in this approach? Will the Humax recognise these file formats or not? If not, is it possible to convert the files to a format that the box will recognise and then transfer? If conversion is necessary any recommendations on converter software?

Sorry you can't at the moment pull this one off.

If your PC is close to your TV or you have a laptop with a DVI or VGA port and your TV has a hdmi or vga inputs then you can use the free vlcplayer to play just about any video format on your TV using it as an external monitor. To connect using DVI you will need a DVI to HDMI lead and will need seperate connections for the audio for DVI or vga connections

You said it's not possible at the moment......does that mean that it might be sometime in the future!

The foxsat uses a mpeg transmission stream file format that it's very possible to recreate (.ts). It however needs 2 additional support files that have to be present for replay and if someone can figure out how to synthesize these files then it may be possible to convert and upload your own video.

Additionally the video processing chip in the foxsat is known to support divx so in theory a firmware upgrade might make this possible.

You can upload (or play directly from) native video files, Music (mp3) and photos (jpg).

It's also a possibility that implementing the lan port on the Foxsat might make it possible to stream your own video over a home network.

Sadly at the moment it's all vapourware

If your PC has composite video and audio outputs a wireless video sender link to your TV or a seperate modulator using a coax link might well work.

You can of course buy a media server that will talk to your PC over a lan connection, wired, over the mains or wifi.

One last, (dumb!), question. Whan you say you can upload native video files, what exactly do you mean by this. What format are they?

Native means that they came from a foxsat-hdr in the first place (yours or someone elses). (they are family of 3 files)

And yes I am sure there as some tecchies trying to sort this out.
